I have seen some members posting discussions regularly on a daily basis , some of them start more than one discussion each day. I also see some mebers taking part most of the time in discussions started by other members rather than start discussions of their own.
I myself start a discussion , may be once a week on an average. I find it quite difficult to come across proper discussion topics and now make it a point to note down ideas as and when it flashes so that I do not forget it when I need it most.
So friends how often do you all start your discussions and any tips or ant special ideas that you can share regarding the discussion topics and your posting ...We all have our own distinct way of sharing ideas that make us stand out. plz do share your own ideas regarding discussions and postings here on mylot...

I am a new user as of yesterday and I have already started a new discussion. I myself think I will probably try to start atleast one or two new discussions a week, but I will be responsing to other discussions everyday. I like to talk and sometimes real people "in a sense" do not give you unbias opinions because they do not want to make you mad or hurt your feelings. It could also involve looking for an answer that no one you know actually can answer.

When I was new here I had the same feelings hagirl , that the earning was poor. But once you get used to the site and make friends things change, you start earning better because of more interaction and more than that you enjoy yourself taking part in discussions and sharing things amongst your friends ...All the best and have a nice day

You are not the only one I have been really busy the last couple weeks I have not started many discussions at all. I am glad you are back to mylotters. I really enjoy these discussions. I haven't been able to start many discussions but I try to add comments to the mylot discussions of the day that interest me. Mylot does not pay very good, but I really enjoy making new friends and I hope to help people with my advice and vice versa.

I rarely start discussions these days as often the ideas I have are not likely to gain a huge amount of interest. I have tried posting a discussion a day but often found that they were pretty boring and didn't get the responses I thought they would.
What I do these days is if I come across an idea for a discussion I make a note of it and then leave it there for a few days. Then I go back to the idea and see if I still think it would work or not before trying to come up with the discussion question.
So I basically only ever start a discussion when I think I have an appealing topic for it. I actually enjoy responding to discussions a lot more than starting them so it's not such an issue for me.

This is a very good discussion, Kiran..
As for myself, I really look at the situation and whether I have time to come out with a few discussions. There are days in which I just keep on responding to others instead of staring any, and there are days that I totally spend on answering comments to the discussions I've made.
I've found it easier to manage by having a timetable or some sort.. Like if I dedicate solely on answering others discussions, I'll try my best to answer as much as possible. I start out with friends and then branch out. When I am concentrating on my own discussion answers, I take a bit of time; perhaps 1-2 days, because as I go along answering each comment, I take the time to answer their discussions too. I just feel in that way, I could be more enriched with my time here.. and that's what my style has been so far.
It is beneficial to me because I have time to:
1) Choose the awesome discussions to answer (not that others aren't, but the ones which I could, I'll do it)
2) I get more knowledge
3) I have more experience as days go by
Hope these answers are relevant to your topic. Have a nice day..

Hi zed, I am extremely sorry for responding so late. I have been away for nearly a fornight and had no access to web. It is great to be back among friends
Thanks a lot for your detailed analysis about discussions and their uses. i agree with you that we have to learn through them and not just post without going deep into it.One must put ones heart into any topic before starting a discussion and also take interest while answering others discussions.
Have a great day and happy mylotting zed

Hi anang, you can always modify the discussion a little and start it even if there is a similar discussion posted by some one else. I too prefer answering discussions, since it is far more interesting. I sometimes find it difficult to find topics of discussions ...

I don't go all out to start a discussion but wait for some inspiration. If I come across some incident or if something comes to my mind suddenly, then I start a discussion or another MyLotters's comment might trigger something in my mind which would make me start a discussion. Apart from that, I like to comment on discussions started by others because its simpler that way. Once you start a discussion, I feel its only polite to reply to all the comments and that at times takes a lot of time.

Hi suesan, I agree with you when you say that it is a responsibility starting a discussion, one has to follow up the responses and carry forward the discussions. I too make it a point to respond to all comments made by friends on my discussion topics. It is however much easier to take part in other members discussions - all the best and have a great time mylotting

Hi suesan, It happens with most members who are well settled here. I feel the same way when I am on line and am interacting on mylot. I want to answer just one more discussion topic and this can go on endlessly LOL...It definitely is most addictive and I hate it when I am for a long period of time like the past two weeks, when I was not able to log in ...

Hi thanks for the response to my comment. I'm so new here and learning so many things daily. I love mylot and I seem to be spending more and more time here even to the extent of forgetting meal times. This is addictive isn't it? There are so many things you can comment on that everytime, I want to leave it, I suddenly spy another interesting topic and just can't let go without commenting and so it goes on and on....

I do not have any particular time frame to start a discussion Kiran. There are times when I start a series of discussion in a single day and there are many days without starting even a single discussion. It simply depends on when an ideas strikes at you or whenever you come across an incident of motivation.

Hi balasri, thanks a lot for your response . I too would start a discussion only when I am sure that the idea is good and it will interest others as well. I get many discussion ideas which to me seem very good , but, I am not sure about the response it is going to generate. Earlier I had seen how I got poor response for some discussions, so, now I try to to be a little careful while selecting the discussion topics- all the best and have a great weekend

HI Kiran! Not seen you for long. How are you? My computer is slowly getting back to normalcy. I have also started afew discussion topics before and after the viral attack. There is no hard and fast rule and I just do it if the mood takes me and some idea flashes.

Hi Kiran!
I have no fixed schedule to start a discussion. ......LOL! One thing I can surely tell you is that I cannot start a discussion every day. I just cannot think of a relevant topic each day to start a new discussion. Even sometimes I fail to start a discussion on weekly basis. Whenever any topic comes to my mind, I just start a discussion. Another reason for not starting so many discussion is - I feel that the discussion should have some essence and everyone could relate to it, starting frivolous discussion does not serve any purpose. Also, when I start receiving responses to my discussions, I feel like commenting immediately, however sometimes it does not become possible. Before starting a discussion, I check (in my mind) whether I'll be able to post my comments, if it is not possible, I postpone the start of a new discussion. What I've observed is that one cannot feel satisfied till s/he starts his/her own discussion and respond to others' discussions. Only responding to others sometimes becomes boring and frequently starting your own discussions also becomes a loop sided effort.
Have a great day!
Deepak

Hi deepak, thanks a lot for your response and I am sorry I couldn't answer you earlier as I have been away for almost 2 weeks , and have not logged in all that time. I agree with you that it is difficult to find a good topic of discussion that holds the member's interest and generates a good response.I too like to answer all the comments that I receive from others - have a great day deepak and happy mylotting

I never start a discussion often. If there is a doubt in my head only then i will start a discussion. When i joined mylot i used to start a lot of discussions.I also used to get a lot of responses but i never used to comment on them. Now only i have started commenting to my own discussions.I am also marking best response for the best discussions.

Hi vicky, thanks a lot for your response I am somehow never comfortable marking best response, I feel that it is unfair to the other members.I see many members posting excellent points and it is impossible for me to select any one. Now i hardly ever select a best response. For me all those who take part in my discussion are best responses lol...Have a great weekend and happy mylotting

I started to post discussion when I first joined in but find it very time consuming to reply to all the comments. So now instead of posting, I only comment on discussions. The only problem is that there's rarely an interesting discussion that really attracts me. I found myself commenting on discussion that dated way back from months ago.
I used to jot down any idea that came across my mind but when I search it on mylot it has been posted, quite disappointing I must say.

Hi patofgold, thanks a lot for your response. I have never started more than 2 discussions in a day, and that was in the beginning, but most often it is just one or two discussions a week. I find it hard to get any good discussion ideas. Have a great time mylotting and all the best

I enjoy commenting on others, more than posting my own. Though I heard posting your own topic will give u higher earning. I donno, I found posting new topic, not so easy as it should. I don't really have time frame where should I post a topic. I only post something when I do need to post a query. There was still one new topic in NewYork category, that I posted few days back, that still gain zero response.

Hi Kiran,
There is no time frame for me to start a discussion. Sometimes I may take long time like a month or even more sometimes I started within a week. Recently I am taking more time to start a new. Time is also one of the factors because now-a-days I can’t spend more time for mylotting. But I don’t have any worries for not getting time and whenever I get time I do posts and I am happy with that. Usually I don’t think much about for a topic but it comes to my mind automatically but once I got the idea and I may think about the topic whether to start or not, so on that way I may waste my time too.

Hi, kiran.
I do not start a discussion often. But i would like to try and start a discussion more often or perhaps once a day.
I normally start a discussion when i have some certain situations in my life, for example the problems that i face.
Sometimes i am quite lazy to mylot, i prefer surfing on net. That's why i am not so active on starting the discussions.
Have a nice day and happy mylotting.
