What you thought it was about?

I didn't see many previews for the movie before I watched it. And so my impression of it before I saw it was all wrong! I thought the whole thing was just that some kids were going through some sort of adventure in a labyrinth with all kinds of monsters or something. I had no idea it was like set in the Spanish Civil War and stuff. I actually found it much more interesting this way. And it was a much more serious film than I had anticipated. So did Pan's Labyrinth match what you expected? Did you like it? What did you think of the movie?

We had the same first impression. I thought the film was just another kiddie film. i didn't know it could be a little bloody sometimes. It looks pretty creepy too especially the pan. I would always suspect that he's a traitor but then i was wrong again. The monster on the underground was a lot creepier.

I read several reviews before I saw it, and I had seen a few other films by the director, so i pretty much knew what to expect, going in. I was very glad I got to see it on the big screen (I don't get to a theater very often, and see most movies on DVD). The best thing about it, for me, was the way that reality and fantasy were so well blended. That's very hard to pull off, and del Toro did an amazing job. I bought the DVD soon after I saw the movie, and have watched it a couple of times since. I still think it's a wonderful and unusual film.

I'd seen a few del toro films before hand so I knew semi what to expect. This one though is one his better movies, hands down.
