I do not have a video camera, I only have a webcam. and so far d only way I've known how to do it is an instant upload to youtube. but you might as well not use it cuz everytime i upload it it ALWAYS has problems. it cuts off videos, it fast forwards the whole video, only keeps first few seconds of the audio to d video and its REALLY annoying. i cant do anything. Plus i wanna first be able to save the video file on my computer so then i can put it into windows movie maker to edit it and add effects to it. So what program on windows is there so i can use my built in webcam? Please help. I have windows vista.

Not sure what kind of webcam you have but if you bought it, it should have come with some sort of software that'll allow you to record video. I have one on my computer and it came with the CyberLink YouCam software. Go to http://www.download.com/ and search for "webcam software" and you should be able to see a whole bunch of stuff out there that you can try before you buy. Some of them might even be free! Hope this helps!

K, so what kind of computer do have and what brand is your webcam (if you know). Like others have suggested, when a computer comes with a webcam, it usually also comes with some decent software to let you use it. If the software only allows you to upload to youtube, I would say that's pretty lame. What is the name of the software?

Hey,
I am not sure if this software will do what you want it to do, but try Camtasia. I am still not sure if it can record from your Webcam, but I know that you can at least use your webcam with your computer screen as a screencast or whatever. Make sure you have a good day, Happy Lotting!!

It should have come with software to do that. I have XP and it came with Windows movie maker which can be use to do it also, I think. Check in your program files and see if you have movie maker. But again the option should be available with the webcam software; I have only used my a couple of times but I am totally sure it had it.

Try Active Webcam, a video surveillance software. My webcam comes with a recording software, so it sort of surprises me that yours doesn't. Well, try your luck, download Active Webcam software, and see if it works. I'm not sure if it's free or if it's 100% compatible with your computer specs, tbough.
Hope this helps.
