There are lots of guides out there that help you optimize Firefox to load faster, but I will tell you the obvious and efficient ways.
1. Get the latest Firefox, firefox.com
2. Get a faster internet connection and a faster computer.
3. Type this in the place where you type URL. about:config, this is where you can change settings of firefox, and change some settings.A great site would be this http://www.wikihow.com/Make-Firefox-Load-Pages-Faster.

From What I know Firefox in Linux load much more faster and responsive!!
You may want To Install linux on a dual boot environment .
Or if Your system has a lot of ram to spare..
use TweakXP to create a ram drive ..Dump your Firefox program folder there and launch Firefox from there..
That would make Firefox run at much more responsive rate..
