How would you like your steak done, medium rare or well done?

My daughter's friend had a disgusting experience at a steak house. He was invited by some friends for a pigout. All his friends requested medium rare, so he did too. When the steaks were served, he could still traces of blood on the succulent meat. He couldn't eat raw meat but he swallowed his food with his eyes closed. He should have requested if he could have his well done but all his friends would have frowned. What about you? Would you eat steak medium rare?

Hi eileenlyva, at this moment I would take a steak anyway I could get one and relish every mouthful. A good steak is hard to get hold of here, it is rarely on sale to cook oneself and if it is it is frightfully expensive. I haven't bought one for ages. In the taverana's steak is not steak, at least not in this area, what is produced is a bit of dried up shoe leather, a piece of beef not steak, cut very thin and massacred. I dream of a thick steak with mushrooms and green salad and mustard. My preference would be medium rare as long as it is cooked well.

What is that bit of dried up shoe leather? Gosh, do they really produce such? But you have good taste. Wish they could sell steak at a lower price. I haven't had one in a long time too.

Hi eileenlyva, we were in a lovely taverana few weeks ago and steak featured on the menu, we didn't risk it though, we both presumed it would be dried up old shoe leather, don't know why they don't just put that on the menu and have done. Many thanks for the best response.

lol... oh poor guy. i hate it when i can see blood. i'll loose my appetite in seconds. I like it well done thanks. no offense to the japanese, but i can't take raw meat. even if it medium, tastes like raw to me. I'd ask for a well done meat, my friends can frown all they want. i'm the one eating it. haha. you shouldn't change what you want, or who you are because of people. Nice question.

I also avoid the sushi. The teriyaki and katsudon are good though. The Jap rice and soy seasoning are to die for.

I want it well done. I have a gastritis, and my doctor prohibits me to eat raw foods and the like.

No way would I eat mine medium rare, I don't want mine still mooing at me..lol. I usually order mine well done, and my husband likes medium well, now I may even eat it that way, but not medium rare or rare, I can't stand to see someone eat it that way and have blood running down the sides of their mouths.... I won't hardly eat any meat that isn't cooked all the way, even my burgers have to be well done, my husband teases me and says I'll only eat it if its like charcoal..haha.

Hi Eileen, I like my steak medium rare - crisp and a bit burnt on the outside, while still soft and juicy on the inside. Your friend should have requested for well done or medium done - then he could have enjoyed his steak instead of having to swallow something he didn't like.

I always eat meat medium rare but it doesn't sound like the steak that your daughter's friend fits into my idea of medium rare. A steak that is still bloody is cooked rare. There's nothing wrong with sending meat back to be cooked properly but he probably should have ordered his steak cooked the way that he likes it cooked instead of the way that his friend's like it. I can empathize though. There's nothing more disgusting than eating raw meat.

I like it medium well. The juice is still there from the blood. I find if its well then it is too dried out and it takes forever to chew. We just ate a steak off the pit and it was so yummy with the meat just a little pink. It was just right. One of his friends may of felt the sameway he did. Alot of times I forget how I like my steak and have to ask my husband lol.

Meduim rare yummy!! Well is tough meat and dry compared to meduim well, or meduim rare. Steaks that cook way to long are dry and chewy..Actually shoe leather is the best description!

ICK! No way I like mine well done too! What's the point in cooking something if it's still going to be bloody?!?!? I would of either made it my way or just declined eating that at all.

I think he was really silly for not speaking up & ordering his steak like he likes it. I personally like a mediun rare steak & would pay no attention at all to what my friends order. I don't go out to eat very often so want what i want when i do. He better learn to speak up about things & quit following the crowd. U could get in trouble doing that.

I like mine medium rare or medium. I say that because medium rare or medium has flavor in it, as oppose to just rare or well done. It really all depends on the steak.

Medium rare is the very best and tastiest way to cook and eat Steak. I've been eating medium rare steak for many years and enjoy it very much. Why would it make any difference if the blood was cooked or raw? Some people order their steak by asking the waiter to go out to the field and chase the cow past the BBQ. The idea here is to just 'warm the meat up a bit,' and never mind cooking it at all. I'll take mine Medium Rare, Please!

No, I would not eat medium rare steak. Medium-rare steak is WAY too chewy and disgusting for me. I like my steak well done. When its well-done the meat is cooked completely and the blood of the meat isn't oozing out with every bite.

I prefer my steak medium rare if it's a good cut of T-bone or round cut. Ribeye steaks must be well done. I have a friend who has to sign a waiver at restaurants because he orders them rare! This type of steak is cooked for one minute on each side, then served. That's disgusting!

I prefer my steak well done. I can handle some red but not to much, and if it has red juice coming out, uh no thank you, that is disgusting. If it has red juice coming out then why even grill it u might as well eat it raw..
