Yeah taking into consideration the recession and all (if you really can feel it).
Just the day before yesterday, I spent 5000php for a round trip ticket for two to a beautiful place. It's not really for me (sad, sad), but for my mother and my little sister. Well, it's gonna be my mom's birthday so it's my gift for her. And since I can't go along because of work, little sis will be the one to go with her.
So, what's the biggest purchase you had?

Two months ago my husband and I spent about $7200 on our wedding party and our honeymoon and we recenly spent about $2100 on a trip to Latvia and Lithuania so we have spent quite a lot of money this year. Last year we took a lot of extra work in order to save up some money. It was hard to work so much, but it was definately worth it. We had a great wedding party and honeymoon and we also enjoyed our trip to Latvia and Lithuania very much. We were able to save some money because we chose to go by bus and we chose to stay at hostels instead of hotels.

Oh will my "best wishes" be that late? LOL
Anyway, congratulations on your wedding and honeymoon.
I know it's worth saving if it is for something that will make you ultimately happy.
I can imagine the hardwork you had to save that money, and the happiness of having fufilled what you wish for.
Best of luck on your married life!
Great lots,

Congratulations on your wedding. My 2nd wife and I have been married for ten months. Marriage is work but as a wise man once said "Behind every good man is a better woman". I wish you all the best in your marriage.

wow that's very big of you. My biggest purchase would have to be my birthday celebration this month. I wasn't planning to celebrate my birthday but my friend whom i haven't seen in 2 years is in town for vacation. He sent me a message the day before my birthday saying he was available for that night so i had to make some quick get together - a dinner and clubbing afterward. Good thing my friend was still able to get us a free pass at my fave club so I saved on the entrance fee. The next day (on the day of my birthday), i went to this resort with my family.

Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday to you!
A reunion with an old friend. Cheeky!
So you're a party girl, huh?
Good thing you saved on the entrance fee.
I myself woudn't go to those clubs if it isn't for free. LOL
I reckon it was a time well spent with the family?

Haha thanks! Before you get any ideas, he is literally just a friend.lol
Actually, he was the one who introduced me to my current boyfriend.:)
Yea well I wouldn't want to spend on the entrance fee either. hehe
Yep, the pool party with my family was fun. Too bad my parents couldn't come. They were out of town and their trip to the city keeps getting postponed. It was just me siblings, my niece and nephew. Oh and I met a colleague who was teaching at the surfing school inside the resort. He was teaching me a week a go during an out of town project we had with their organization. He gave me free surfing lessons at the wave pool which was awesome!

The biggest purchase we had over the last 3 months is RMB6000 for a new motorcycle.
Our old motorcycle fails to run and doesn't work any more. Without any driving tool life becomes so inconvinient. We have no enough money for a car now therefore we need to buy a motorcycle instead .

I know that our government and news media are telling us that we are in a recession, however, I am not seeing much difference. I have been putting a few hundred dollars a month into starting an online business, over the last few months. My current employer is still getting large contracts.

My biggest purchase in the past 3 months was a round trip plane ticket from Davao-Manila-Baguio. Aside from the tickets, of course I have to pay for the hotels, and meals and of course for shopping.
I spend a lot of pennies in this travel but it is really worth it because I spent it with my relative who I seldom see.

My most expensive purchase within the last 3 months was my laptop computer. It's a Toshiba Satellite model and so far it works great!

sadly to say, I have been cheap to myself for the last couple of months, because many bills to be paid, and the economic recession really affect most of us here in the states. The biggest item I ever purchased for the last three months, will be the external hard drive I bought from Fry's electronic, around $110, and it was under discount too.

You are a generous son! I haven't been spending much lately. I only use our budget on the basic necessities. The biggest purchase I had for the past 3months are a hard drive and RAM. So geeky. My computer had errors (and needed repair) and my hard drive is the culprit.

I can not really remember if I have bought something REALLY expensive? I think I bought a shirt to about 100$ but that is it? But I am planning on buying a new phone. That might be like 400$ or more. Otherwise I would like to go to USA when I get older, so I am saving for that. Or maybe Australia.

I am really sorry that you couldn't go. I would have to say the biggest purchase i have made in the last 3 months was a plan ticket to visit my family. I had my 2 year old daughter with me. That was the biggest purchase that I made.

Two weeks ago, I purchase a a flight ticket to go home this September. At first, I don't intend to go home and stay at my current place, but sudden intuition come to me telling me to go home, so I browse and ask my brother credit card to purchase the ticket and then a few days later I pay it back in full. I don't have credit card yet, so I need to ask for his help. Being alone during festive season must be hard and I don't intend for it, so I make the purchasing and seem my parents delight that I will going home.

You bought a flight ticket, too. That's wonderful...
I think we better get ourselves credit cards, you know, for emergency purchases.
I believe your parents will be really delighted that you want to be with them on that festive season.

My biggest puirchases in the last 3 months have been at the grocery store buying food. I try to go only once a month and so that is where our money is spent right now. Maby by the end of the year things will have picked up enough to do something fun.

Well, you can't go wrong with food.
The wise says, better spend your money on food than on useless things.
A huge lummp of my allowance goes also to food.
We should hope things will get better with you so that you can do something fun.

A simple thing a mobile phone. When this world has millions of poor people I prefer to spend only on the needful.

"Spend only on the needful [things]"...
Yeah, you are right, my friend.
I was gonna buy a phone, too.
But I spent my money on the tickets, that is why I haven't.
Anyway, I'm happy with that expense so I guess that's all that matters.

you are very good to your family. i also wish i can spend money on my parents, but they don't like travelling by themselves, i can't go with them, so it's never done.
My recently biggest perchase was a troud ticket to china too. Last may i visited my parents and spend almost 500 pound on tickets plus some money on accomadations. food. For one month i always spent 1k pound. not expensive. just reasonable.
I suppose 1k would be my every years cost to China, wish the inflation is not so high next year.

Hi there sblossom,Thanks
... I'm not that good, I just want them what's best. LOL
Well, you can give your parents gifts other than vacation tickets. You can treat them to dine in a classy resto.
500pounds on tickets and some accommodations, that's around 40 grand in our currency. 1K pound on monthly expenses... uhmm.. reasonable enough... Yeah, hope so... the inflation won't get worse.
