Is it okay to wash your dog everyday?

I have a lhasa apso and he can't go anymore than weel with out a bath.He gets all smelly within a week.He hates bathes,but I have to force him to take one.He requires alot of grooming so once in a while I like to have him shaved.He's a very long haired breed,and gets matted easily.I don't think it's bad to bath a dog every day as long as it don't dry it's hair out.I would think it may effect the dryness of his fur.I do know the dog won't get sick.Last summer my dog had a flea infestation and to get rid of it I did bathe him on a daily basis to get rid of them.I did it until all the fleas were gone.That was terrible.

A vet would tell you not to bath everyday. I don't think its good for your dog. I have a shih tzu and the doctor said every 6 weeks or so. To much bathing can cause skin problems, which my dog already has. So I give him an oatmeal type shampoo found at the store.

It's usually bad for their skin with most breeds, and their coat, because it removes too many oils. A partial bath would probably be okay though daily. I've had elderly pets before that would get urine on their coat and have to be partially bathed every day to avoid urine scald. But I wouldn't give them a full bath each time.

Whatever my experience is that Dogs are fine if they are given Bath at least 3-4 times a month i.e at least once a week that's what i follow with my own dog.

I am not a 100% sure, but from what I heard it is not great to bath your animals that frequently. They might develop allergies or skin irratations as animals are different than humans in that capacity. It also depends on the type of fur your animal has. Silky, smooth, wirery, etc.? Most dogs it's about one week, for my german shepard I've been told about every two weeks to about once a month. Again, this is hearsay as I'm not an expert. What does the shampoo suggest? My best bet would be to ask your vet.
