Do you believe assisted suicide allows people to "die with dignity"? I mean i understand that when people are diagnosed with a terminal illness they are going to die anyway. I am just not sure if that should be a choice, I have never been in their shoes to know how much they will suffer and make their families suffer during the long run of the illness. I am just not sure if it isn't just suicide because most people do commit suicide because they are suffering in live in a more emotional way.

Hello joseym. That's a tough one. I can understand in the circumstance of someone that is going to die anyway and even perhaps is suffering as well. I think that those people should be able to make the decision themselves.
However,in some circumstances, it may not be the best idea to allow the person that choice. For example, what if the person has a mental disorder or depression. Something that can be curable. They might just not been thinking right at the time.
They might not be unable to make decisions. I guess the best way would be to judge each on a case to case basis. Or perhaps make the person take a pychiatric examination first?

Your answer makes a lot of sense I had not considered if the person may not be at the right frame of mind at the moment or ever. I imagine also if it is a recent fact that you may not be thinking straight because you are overwhelmed with the news. So I guess depending on the circumstances and putting a person to a psychological evaluation would be a good idea to ensure that that is truely what the person wants in the long run.
