Getting married: Is it the same in all countries?

In my country, when a couple goes to the mosque, temple or church or the Registration Department to take the marriage vow and signs the marriage forms there, that's the time when they are officially and legally married and can call themselves husbands and wives. Other marital rituals / ceremonies and wedding parties come later. In addition, prior to getting married, couples are not allowed to live together, and they certainly are not allowed to have children before being legally proclaimed husband and wife. What about the marriage process in your country? When will you be declared officially married? Is it the same as in my country?

No. In Moldova, Russia, Belarus it is usually a simple civil ceremony and in India the ceremony is huge....I apparently have to plan an Indian wedding.

I think all countries are the same as they declared official marriage once they gone through the official registration in their particular country. I don't think in my country that it is not allowed to have children or living together, I would say, there is no encouragement to do that. All adult have their choice to either got married or choose go being de-facto relationship. And, there is NO restriction on registration of child born by unmarried couple. Unmarried couple will still be able to register the child as long as they acknowledged that the child is theirs. I think marriage is more a legal commitment, that both loving individual is willing to take oath to care and love for each other on a life span. However, there are people who break the oath and legal commitment, ended up with ugly divorces too.

Here in the Philippines, you must be 18yrs old and above to be legally married either civil wedding, church wedding or even in court. It takes a month to precessed all the papers before a wedding ceremony happens.

Here in Britain, marriages are very easy and not very different from others, we go to church, take the vows, and then celebrate after that, we also marry legally in court. And some simply prefer to do their marriages in the concern department only. Then there are the parties hosted by the families and the married couples.

In the Philippines, you have to get a marriage license first, before you can proceed to the ceremony. And it takes a lot of papers. I knew this because we had Family Relations as our subject, and we'd recently discussed this topic. It's not that I'm already married, I'm too young for that. (++,) Happy MyLotting!
