I am currently going to a weight loss Dr. and have lost 3 pounds in 2 days.
I am writing about it because I HATE dieting, but know I have to because it is the only way to lose weight.
I already tried "thinking skinny" and other meditations, but I guess dieting is where "action" meets "positive thinking."
Does anybody have any good suggestions on how to keep a diet (just don't put food in your mouth is not very helpful...)

I cheated on my diet yesterday, and, I broke it completely today.
But, it is ok. Because my mindset is on the end result.
The rest of the day today, I will just drink lots of water, I will call it a metabolism raising day, and will be back at it tomorrow.
It is about the long haul, not a few days on...
I did however, notic that I was able to eat less than I did before and that I made healthier decisions (grilled chicken vs burgers and sharing a tamale with my daughter instead of eating mine then finishing hers...)

Wow, that amazing, losing 3 pound in 2 days. How you did it? I don't like dieting too, but it kind easier for me as at my current palce not so many things to eat, so I don't eat much because of it, but once I going out, there are so many things to eat, so I will eat a lot. I guess, thats depend on your motivation to lose weight, so be strong and keep persistent with your dream.

I eat two eggs with veggies for breakfast, with fresh squeezed orange juice (2 organic oranges) soup (chicken broth and a vegetable well blended, actually very yummy), and vegetebles with 3 oz of a protein for lunch. And tea for dinner. My Dr. is from Tijuana MX, so she believes lunch should be your strong meal and our "dinner" should be some fruit and tea. I also have 3-4 servings of fruit a day.
Its low calorie, with supplements to make sure i'm getting all my vitamins, and weekly check-ups to make sure i'm doing ok.

3 lb in 2 days? this is not good, too fast. i think you just lost water because it's nearly impossible to loose that much weight in such short period of time...
I just substitute foods for a healthier alternatives... instead of eating regular cheese for example you might want to switch to raw cheese. it costs more, but you will not gain weight from it. i eat most of the foods raw, i can even make raw cakes and they are simply great

Raw cakes??? You've got to send me a recipe.
I tried raw, but it's too difficult because I live with a bunch of adults who have horrible eating habbits, I try, but sometimes when I get home and a home cooked meal is sitting waiting for me, that steak and potatoes goes down before I think about my waist line. Everyone is dieting together, and that makes it possible for me...
I think it's water weight too, still though, my pants already fit better.

You should never deprive yourself of your fav foods - it will do no help. I thin kthe best is to split your meal time into smaller porion. Like you have small quantity of food every 2 hours. Make sure you don't eat a lot of junk.
Have you ever tried outdoor activities. If you get involved in activities that will not oly keep your mind off the issue but also help you reduce the weight. Say you get involved in social initiative or social work - you spend you time productivly and at the same time reduce weight :) Try it and let me know how you feel.

Hey, this is really tough because i myself is struggling to lose weight over the years. right now, im taking diet pills that my friend recommended to me...i know it's not good for our health but i have no choice...i need to shed off some extra pounds because I'm going to Japan and I don't want to look like an ogre among those petite and small sized people..

Yeah, it sucks being around really petite people. I've been doing pretty awesome with the diet, and I am being seen by a Dr. But i'm a little weary because when I was in Nursing school I was taught that even in starvation one can only lose 3 lbs a week.
I lost 6 in 4 days...

i need advice here too so i do not have any suggestions. i have been walking and doing some light exercises like stomach crunches and push ups and some light weights all summer and have not lost much at all. i think you have to eat very little to lose weight and even though i do not think i eat all that much i guess i must be eating too many calories because the weight is not coming off so i have recently eliminated pasta and bread from my diet along with cutting back on eating meat or poultry to only a couple days per week and see if that helps some. exercising at my weight is hard but i push myself to do it nearly every day. i must have a really slow metabolism. i know one thing though and that is that i cannot give up as my health is at risk.

Good for you! Dieting is not very fun, but it can get better. Try looking online for healthy recipes that have your favorite foods in them (and I mean healthy foods, not chocolate!) Also, try to be open to new fruits and vegetables. I found this vegetable lasagna recipe that tastes fantastic, and I'm not fond of many vegetables!
Another thing you can try is to find healthy alternatives to snack foods, and try to cut out as much processed food as possible (such as American cheese, which is mostly oil anyway). A big part of this is carbonated drinks--they are not good for you at all! I cut out all sodas a couple years ago, and I lost a good amount of weight that way!
I hope this helps you, and good luck on your dieting!

This year I've lost 30 lbs. But, I really can't say that I did it by dieting. I did it mostly with exercise and drinking water, the changes in my eating habits came from that.
I made my first goal to drink at least 100 ounces of water today. Once I started meeting that goal, I found that I wasn't as hungry because the water kept me filled up. I made my second goal to work out at least one hour a day. Once I reached that goal I found that I craved exercise.
Good luck to you.

Dieting is a bad word. Actually I dont diet and neither do I care about it. I just follow a simple routine. I have a very strict pattern of eating and sleeping. Even If I overeat I reduce the next intake a bit. So that I am never hungry or starved. I also give in to little urges now and then. After I say binge on a chocolate bar, I go for a longish walk. I try to walk fast so that I can atleast burn off some calories. No, I dont keep counting calories now and then. Try reducing your stress levels and get some good sleep. If relevant check your thyroid levels. If all else fails, be happy with the way you look. Just be sure that you are healthy and you dont have any diseases.
I am a much happier person after I stopped worrying about my weight.
