Did anyone watch the new show that started tonight called More to Love? What did you think of it? For those of you that don't know what I'm talking about, the show is basically "The Bachelor" but with plus size people. The man is 6'3" & 330 pounds. I lists the girls names, what city they are from, their age, height & weight. I guess that means that plus size people are not allowed on the regular Bachelor & Bachlorette shows. I think this is just terrible to have to make a special show for plus size people. What is next, one for ugly people? handicapped people? people with an illness? I could go on all day. Do you think it is right to have a show for a certain type of people?

Welcome to the lot and I hope you enjoy your time here.
I am right with you here. The show usually has just really tiny petite or tall but size 2 ladies on it. When most or the majority of they ladies in the states are sized 14/16. So now they have a guy that is over weight as well and has a hard time getting a good lady because of his weight.
Most of the previous shows had really fine looking, every girls dream looking guy.
Or so they thought.
I do not think that they should segregate people in the shows. They are showing more and more than the differences in people do make them very different as a person and it does not. We all have feelings, we all have the same issues in relationships and in our lives to deal with. So why do they have to push this stereo typing and publish it as this is the way it should be? I have no answer for this.

I think it's funny that the average size for women in the U.S. is 14/16, but it sure isn't recognized! Unless you're a size 2, you're usually considered fat!

You are right of course. The really sad thing is that people judge us on how we look and our weight instead of the person that we are.

I don't watch such silly stuff on TV. We watch a movie or one of the educational program like discovery, history, ect. It is ridiculous how many stupid shows can they make like this??? Why any women or man would want to choose a mate, that way is shallow and self absorbed. In the end yes if your gonna do it for one ,you had better add everyone.Or some one will be wining about discrimination.

Hello!
I was was gonna watch it but was out . I was curious about it because I myself am a plus size girl and I wanted to see the different weights out there. I dont think there would be any short girls tho . You know I dont get why big brother now has larger girls or any other show . Really sucks!

I'm not saying that it's right to have a show for a certain type of person, but that is the way that society has made it. I am a plus size woman, and if I were wanting to join a show such as the Bachelor and they refused me because of my size, then yes, I would opt for this other show. Society has just made the idea of being even just slightly overweight an issue that no one wants to deal with. I have a nine year old daughter who continually asks me if she is fat. She is in no way even close to being "fat", but she still insists that she is. How much more can we take of this whole "ideal" body image that society burns into our childrens brains????

I don't think it's right and I completely agree with you. A couple of things come to mind here... 1. It's all about ratings. The stations will go to any length to make a few dollars and reality TV seems to be the best way to do it lately. 2. It shouldn't matter what your appearance, love is about personality and connection. Society as a whole has become so shallow that it is nearing taboo for a fat person to be on a show like The Bachelor.
It's pitiful, but we can disagree as much as we want... They wouldn't be making the show if that's not what people wanted to see.

I have never been a fan of reality TV. Funny, but I think the very first best response I got here on MyLot was to someone who asked if I ever watched reality TV, to which I responded "why watch reality TV, when I can go out and live a real life?" or some smart@##ed thing like that. LOL

Being a large sized person and watching many of the bachelor and bachelorette shows, I always wondered why they never had any plus sized people on them. But it does not surprise me , since everything has to be done by what the "public" sees as beautiful. I was surprised that American Idol had plus sized on it, and if you watched it, you know that Simon had things to say to some of them about it. We do exist and we are just as valuable, talented, intelligent, educated, capable, etc, as the next person, but it seems that many times we have to work harder to get there. The thing is, if you put the plus size woman on a "regular" show, you know that she won't get picked unless the man likes bigger women, so I don't have a problem with it. It would have to be done to include the types of people whom the person doing the choosing is comfortable being around and would choose in the end and I do think that more than not WOULD NOT choose a larger person. OH.....I missed the show and did want to watch it but forgot it was on.
