I was actually thinking about buying a laptop right now but my friend told me that i should wait for windows 7 to launch so that i can use windows 7 compatible PC. I did like the windows 7 operating system when i used it on my computer. My computer is now 6 years old. Buying the new OS will cost a lot of extra money as i would want to use windows 7 only. Should i wait for the windows 7 to launch by October 22nd or just buy the laptop now.

well some laptops now offer windows 7 package so when it comes out you will get a copy. personally, i would wait until black friday (day after thanksgiving) time period to buy a new laptop. mianly becuase laptops will be cheaper during that time period, and that windows 7 might possibly get some fixes by that time. getting a new OS when it first releases isnt always the best choice because drivers mihgt not be capatible and programs dont always work the way they are suppose to.

you mean i will have to make my computer survive for that long. Well i will try but if it fails then i think the date will get finalized sooner.

Your laptop is 6 years old. It could crash and cause loss of data. I mean everyone may have some important documents. You can also transfer the necessary data to a small chip, instead of buying a new one now. I would advise to buy one if there is any PC exhibition or sale in your area. Now about Windows latest version: Your laptop will have an older version sooner or later. So why worry about that when people change IT items so frequently?

I haven't been keeping up on computer news... but buying a computer with a new OS isn't always great, because they haven't had a chance to work out the bugs yet. Not only that, but the old OS will still be useable for quite some time, and when the new OS comes out you might manage to get a laptop on sale somewhere... Really, you can always upgrade your OS later. It isn't hard to come across free copies if you know where to look.
