Do you expect instant success when you join a site?

Something that I noticed among those people who are involved with the various writing sites (Helium, Associated Content, etc.) is that a lot of people join them, write a couple of articles, then become upset when the money does not come flooding in. Then they post a complaint and leave in a huff.
Now, there are people who do not fall under this category. People who are willing to put in the time and energy to build up a stock of articles. These people eventually reach payout.
And as far as I can tell, these two types of people populate all the earning possibilities. Whether it is PTC, PTR, survey sites, social networking, etc. Either they expect instant succuss, or they are in it for the long haul.
So why do people expect instant success when they join a site? Is it because they are unwilling to put the effort in? Or is it something that I am overlooking?

Well it could be because they have experience with other sites that make money faster. I've been on mylot for a week and haven't made much at all, but on the other hand I'm on another site that I earned $10 after my first day of joining. Sites that don't make a lot of money right away hardly seem worth the time to a lot of people. If you're putting in 8 hours a day at mylot and only making pennies it can be disappointing.

Are you talking about tasks from here? I've really not paid that much attention to tasks here, but I guess I really should!

You are exactly right. It happens so often here on mylot. Discussion after discussion about how they aren't making enough, mylot is a waste of time...I can't remember when I first started visiting sites that made me money or earned points for gift cards and whatever. But over the years I've learned it takes time and patience. I don't expect "quick" money from any site. I have realistic expectations, and it would be good if others would consider that as well before giving up on any site.

i don't.it's very rare to get immediate success at anything.
if it doesn't turn a profit in general or in networking in a couple of months though, time to clip it.time to check out new possibilities.

I am not this way. It usually takes me quite a bit of time to get good at something like this. It is just human nature though. People want to get a lot for a little and fast. People who do this aren't necessarily unwilling to put in effort, but they want to make sure that they will get something out of the effort they put in and if it takes a while they begin to worry that they are doing all this work for nothing. Time is important to people. Nobody wants to waste it. But of course patience is a virtue and all that clicheness.

Hello Morgan. Expecting instant success generally leads to instant disappointment. On the sites you've mentioned, it takes time, quality, effort, and real work to become successful, but that is true of most things in life. I believe some people DO want to become rich or successful without laying the foundation and putting in the work.

No, I dont. There are no free lunches in this world. I know that I need to really work hard to get money! I am aware of the number of topics I have to discuss and discussions I have to participate in to get a decent amoutn of money. :)

Of course cannot expect an instant success. I learn it in a hard way. People expect instant success because has being bombarded an instant and easy and quick way to earn form internet, but the reality its not that easy. Read the sales letter for any IM products and headlines, only talking the easiness to earn through online, but teh truth, it require hard work and persistent too. People hope for overnight success, which is it hardly happen to all.

Hi morgandrake,,
I must admit that, the first time I hear we can make money from internet, I imagine big success and instant success,,hahaha.. Hey, I don't know anything at that time. It till sounds amazing ,we can make money without have to spend even a penny!
So, I start my journey(haha..no, my research actually). i join many site after I'm sure this iste is not a scam. I come to many blog and write many experience about instant success. So I hope. And after 1 week I know I was stupid! Of course, whether in internet or in real world, there's no instant success. It needs time and effort too. Realizing this not make me stop and go but i put more effort and still hope for success
That's my personal experience.
Of course, with many adverts, sites, and success story that promise big income and instant success, give earning calculate in their homepage, there are people who believe it adn they just feel dissapointed when their hope not become reality. they hope too high and it depends. Maybe they wanna find another site that they think more effective so they out from that site or they give up.. or maybe they need to think about their hope and dreams once again before remain active

I think too, that people want that instant gratifiaction that life has made people accustomed to. For example we get hungry, we want food, we drive no more (usually) than 2 minutes and we hit a fast food place- order- and less than 5 minutes later we have hot food. Instant Gradification. And this same thing can be seen anywhere, in entertainment, our normal house hold products and some adult products, kids toys... everything and it is sad. Really sad.

This depends on how one looks at success. Most often though success is equated with fast and easy money. I really do not believe in instant success. For me, success is something that we should work hard for. We can be lucky to attain it at the least possible time but then again, success comes with dedication, commitment, and hard work.
