Plan to built a Cheap HTPC with HDMI for Playing HD movies/Any Suggestion ?

Hi All, I'm planing to built a HTPC for Playing HD title on my LCD TV. If I'm picking Linux as a platform.What hardware do you suggest? If I'm picking Windows as a platform.What kind of hardware do you suggest? I had look on atom 330 as hardware .However I got mix review on that atom was not able to decode HD media properly with the built in GMA 950 graphic card.. Any suggestion is welcome ! Thanks

You've got a task on your hand Linux is hard to work with from what I've been told. If you can do, I hope you enjoy it.

Thanks for the comment. Read building htpc with Linux.. you need to get graphic cards from nvidia to offer hardware decoding possibilities for hd media.

I've just been trying to fix my computer. I had adware and maleware and maybe even spy ware on it and I can't seem to find what is still wrong with it. When I'm on myLot or another page if I'm on there it stops int he middle of the page and says its not responding but then it will lose the connection and say i wasnt on there to begin with
