i have been an avid music lover ever since i can remember. i have always prefered specific genres over others but overall i try to be open minded to what other people like because they like what they like and thats it. my question is, why are people so judgemental of others because of the music they like?? for example, i am a metal fan and most metal fans i know hate kids who listen to emotional music or "emo kids." i just dont get why that has to make such a difference. one of my best friends likes country music, one genre of music i can not stand! yet, she is still one of my best friends...........

to tell you the truth i don't understand why people are so judgmental about what other people listen to. it's sad that when a person just likes to listen to different genres and can express him/herself in any is sometimes labeled as a poser which is very unnecessary. i mean, every one should be entitled to listen to any genre they want and not limit themselves to just one. to tell you the truth, it angers me how some people ridicule people based on what they listen to instead of respecting and supporting one another.

Some people make music the whole focus of their lives, and to me, life is more than that. You're right, it doesn't matter what type of music a person listens to, but it does say a lot about them. Someone may find joy in the type of music they listen to, and they want to share that joy with someone. It's awesome to sit back and listen to music with someone, to me, it creates an bond. I've had girlfriends in the past whom listened to music that I didn't care for, but I would still listen to what they liked.

Fanaticism to one genre and egocentric, it can create hostility to the fans of other genres. Fans of other genres is not considered to be impartial to them. I am a musician. I like all genres. Because every genre has a character.
