Young people think old men are fools.Old men know young people are fools. One look around the world and the mess is very clear. The younger generation blame the oldies for all the mess we see around us. From what I have seen, i can say with conviction that old people were far more disciplined than the present generation.Early to bed,and early to rise.Very little vices and a very systematic lifestyle were some of the noted features of the earlier people.Today the pub culture, live in relationships, gambling and drugs have shattered many budding careers.Traits like patience, hardwork and sustained effort to achieve excellence and perfection in any field of activity,be it music, sports or scientific inventions is missing in today's youths. They are in a hurry to achieve success. Who is more disciplined?

Wind is blowing fast, situations are changing faster. World is going through its middle age and so there is no time left for sustained effort. Grab all that comes your way and run.

Neither. All people are fools, regardless of age. It is in our nature. We just display our foolishness in different ways. Things are done differently than they were in previous generations, and things will be done differently in generations to come. But we have and always will want the same general things in life: money, success, love, power, etc. The only thing that changes is how we pursue these things. Everyone acts as if the world is suddenly a huge mess as if everything used to be so much better. Newsflash! It wasn't. The same crimes and sins and soforth that are happening now have always happened ever since the humans first came to be. There has always been rape, murder, starvation, war, etc. and sadly there always will be. That's just life. And I'm not being pessimistic or anything, just honest.

Actually there were still the same amount of crimes if not more because there weren't as many laws to protect people.

Yes ur right that we cant compare two generations. But whats wrong inadopting things we find good in others? So long as human beings exist, crimes will remain. It existed in the past and will stay till the end of mankind. But dont u think, those crimes which were far and few in the past is now committed with disdain and without fear of law? Why are terrorists active today? it is becuase they being easily misguided. Youth;s are slowly losing the power of rational thinking...thx

I still believe that old men are more knowledgable than younger ones. The experience that old ones get are much better than those of the younger ones. My father who is already old still has the wits even to the last day that he became physically able. . . Now that I'm a bit older, I could say that I have already matured and I won't consider myself fool even if I beca,e a septuagenarian.

Yes older people are more knowledgable. I still get to hear people respect old men who are just matriculates and are often compared equivalent to todays graduates. They have wider knowledge.. thx

The older generation is more disciplined. The younger generation is restless but seems to know where they are headed. They seem to have made up their minds on where they want to get, and how to head there! They seem to have the confidence. I for one of the older generation, would like to take some credit for it; in facilitating the younger ones to build enough confidence to venture farther than home turf. It also seems that the GenX is more self-centered. that maychange. We can't say as of now. The portents are that the older ones must try to take care of themselves when their Sun has set.

yes there is general consensus that older generation is more disicplined. The youth have a lot to learn from them. As u said today's youth know what they want and how to get there. Just imagine what they could accomplish with a bit more discipline and order in their lifestyles.. thx

when we get older, and we learn more things from life...the more we become more disciplined... discipline during our younger years when we were growing up were imposed to us by out parents, the kinds of discipline we have now that we're matured is within us, within our decisions, within the boundaries of our judgments...

Its not getting more disciplined as u age. The older people today were much disciplined even in their younger days, as we get to hear about them from their friends and relatives... with age we must by force of compulsion become disciplined because of weaker body and mind haha thx

lets face it.. older genaration are far more disciplined than the new generation.. young people tend to act like they know all things they need to know, infact, they dont.. they are doing what they want even their parents told them not to, but, because of their hard head, theyll still do it..

I think older ones were more disciplined compred to the new generation. I agree with the first stament you wrote down. In this new generation, parents are giving more freedom to kids and leaving many things upto them to decide. This freedom was not given to our parents by their parents and they were forced to do whatever their parents say. They were disciplied and obyed their parents.
Now, my parents won't expect me to be very disciplied and follow whatever they say. They understand that as a person I have my own interests and opinions. So, most of the time they give me advices as suggestions and list out the advantages and disadvantages of doing so. But, the final decision is up to me and they will give all support for that.

I have to say that the world was different when they were young, the world keeps changing. There are some disciplined youth out there, not all the youth of today are slackers. Same with the old, there are some old folks out there who are fools! I just have to say that whom ever is the most disciplened is in the eye of the beholder. Not saying that there was no validity in what you wrote, I'm just saying you are who you are, and you will see what you choose to see.

i think now in our society we purchase freedom and innovation too much, so we in one side request next generation to be disciplined, in another side we wish they have free and open mind to the world. in this case maybe youger generation is less disciplined compared to older generation.
however it also depends. not totally connects with ages. Some old generation now try to enjoy life as much as they can, so they don't want any control in their life.
Younger generation still have long way to find their foothold in the world, so they would be more disciplined then get the acceptance from the society.
it's like a pholosophical topic. old generation would say i think therefore i am, the young generation would say i feel therefore i am.

I wouldn't say that the past generation always were right and disciplined. They had their flaws too. But they surely were ahead in terms of discipline. They had a lot of patience to accomplish they work. Today's youths are in a hurry to finish and succeed thx

Hello
I really don't like to judge people wrongly, but I must admit that the younger generation is far more corrupt, I don't think I have to list the numurous of ways that they are verses the older generation, I mean besides when you turn on the news and just listen, to who commits the majority of the crimes, and I'm speaking about crimes of all sorts murder, robbery etc you here that the convicted person was someone of the younger generation, now don't get me wrong you here about the older generation committing crimes also on the news, but I'm speaking mainly about the majority of the crimes are from younger generations, so with all that being said, I will have to say that the older generation is more disaplined, and I use that word MORE very specifically.
Happy My lotting!

I think disciplined and not disciplined not depends on age. Of course old men and young people live in different era,the situation is different and also all the opportunity,, so I think you can't compare old and young people. Nowadays, information pass by so fast and many opportunities come,, I don't say that we don't need patience, hardwork and sustained effort anymore, but in young people life, those kind of value still needed plus other value including flexibility (not only systematic lifestyle but also flexible lifestyle) and opened to differences. So, young people charged not only able to be systematic abut also flexible at the same time,, not only patience but also ability to hurry. Young people have more charged than old people and some of them just can't take it all.
Anyway, hardwork and patience is needed to be success in any aspect, I think, whether in the pass or nowadays.. And I think I disagree if you say that music, sport and scientific invention missing in today's youth. yes, There are some youths who ignore it all but there's some youths who really care about it all. If not, thre will be no Hee Ah Lee in piano or Michael Phelps in swimming or the winner of Physics Olmpiad.. we can't make generalization by saying many things missing in today's youths..

whatever u might say, this is true. There were more inventions in the past than we see today. This is not because the present set of people are brainless, but they just dont have the patience to slog till the end... we need to learn thx

In most cases old people are more disciplined...All traditional values are carried from the past and all these values, customs had a lot of disciplinary rules in them. The people of today most of the time find logic in everything and so they do not follow it or don't believe in it.
For example, in Muslims, praying namaz is important..this is what the elders say..if U actually notice, there are so many yoga positions while praying namaz..thats why people who practice namaz daily are very healthy even in their older age...Even the doctors agree to this...But how many of our muslim brothers and sisters are doing this..

yes ur right. iN the past people prayed because of love of God. Today people pray out of religious fanaticism. most tradional values are surviving because of our old people thx

I agree with you, i think the elder folk were more disciplined. They had to do a lot more work than we do now. If you put a current child in the past, things would be so messed up. Kids back then could not give lip back to thier parents, they would have gotten slapped. They could not play as much video games or stuff that we do now. They had to help out. I think kids now days complian too much and need to see what could have been. And this is coming from a kid, ha ha.
