Actually eating three meals is okay if you have one big meal (breakfast) and two smaller meals (lunch and dinner). Now they recommend that you eat six meals though! Breakfast should still be the largest meal with lunch and dinner being smaller and also have two snacks throughout the day. This is supposed to help get your metabolism going. Eating too few meals can actually cause you to gain weight because it lowers your metabolism. Personally I eat 2-3 meals a day.

First of all I would like to thank to all my fellow participants for sharing their precious time and responding to this simple discussion.
Now that you have asked me about my diet routine .I was earlier eating 2- 3 times a day with lots of tea ,often empty stomach. This caused me to fell ill with really bad pain in abdomen.
After that I went for natural cleansing for my stomach and total body for a month.
Right now I'm on my way to recover.I've completely stopped drinking tea .I eat 5-6 times a day -very small meals full of salads, fruits ,non fried, vegetarian food.
I've learnt a lot about the kind of price you have to pay if you neglect health.
Thanks a lot for asking.
happy mylotting.

usually i have 3 meals per day. but sometimes, if without breakfast, just 2. i seldom eat after 9pm.
i heard of that more meals a day, while less each meal, which will help to keep the figure.

Dear Friend,
I eat 3 times daily
Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner. Breakfast is essential for everybody. It breaks your fast whole through night. it is said that take breakfast as king, lunch as prince and dinner as begger(very light). Your dinner should be such that u can sleep well because sleeping doesn,t need much energy.

I eat three times a day, that is without snack. I always have a snack in between. I grew a little bigger now because of me always hungry. Now I also drink lots of water to prevent my stomach of being hungry. I think eating is still healthy when you eat healthy foods.

Hi, here is my experience...
I eat three times a day and used to have a weight problem but I don't any longer.
I learned that we are all different and that one diet doesn't suit all. I worked out what foods were best for me and discovered that I lean more towards carbohydrates and tend to put on weight if I have too much protein. My wife though it the opposite - too many carbohydrates and she will put on weight.
I notice also that I tend used to crave protein foods, but when I ate too many, I would feel sluggish and have aches and pains. My wife felt the same with carbs. It was when I was eating the wrong foods that I would get crazy hunger pangs at any time of day and would have a strong urge to eat anything.
At first I consulted a nutritionist doctor who helped me work out which foods were best. I saw him once a fortnight for about 6 months where I was put on an exclusion diet - just the bare essentials at first and then slowly add foods one at a time and judged whether or not there was a reaction (like feeling off-color). It worked but was confusing when I first started. This was where the doctor helped. I could not have done it alone. Hope this helps. - Derek

We eat 3 basic meals - breakfast lunch and dinner. However when im on a diet, i will have a good breakfast a small snack in the afternoon and a good dinner. Sometimes, when my kids are home, we eat 4 because they long for snacks in the afternoon. Ive read that you can eat anytime as long as it is in small portions. Do not overeat. Drink glasses of water.

I eat six times a day. And ya that might seem like a lot of food my food is portioned and none of my meals are large. I'm not trying to lose weight I'm actually doing the opposite I'm trying to gain weight for the military. I love to eat and my metabolism is way up there. If you're still hungry between meals just eat a snack not junk food grab a fruit cup and drink water or lemon aides.

I have heard that eating more meals a day will help you lose weight. I am not sure what works for you, but apparently more small meals per day will change your metabolism and you will lose the weight. If it's working for you, though, I can't knock it! Good luck with the military!

I think that most of it due to what you eat. Not necessarily eating three times a day. My guide that I use is that michael thurmond and it's based closer to a diebetic diet in eating 6 times a day and eating smaller portions but eating what will help you burn fat. I'm a type A body weight and so I don't burn enough of the foods I eat to lose weight. So this helps you to look at the foods you do eat and maybe change them up a little bit in to fat burning meals.

Around 4, i think. the 3 are the major meals - breakfast, lunch, and dinner - which i try not to skip at all times. i often have late afternoon snack after going out from work, prior to eating dinner. ;)

I usually eat 3 times a day, just like others do. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner. In the afternoon, usually I just eat some snacks. Actually because I am thin, my friend suggested me to eat more than 3 times a day. He told me to eat every 2 hours. I don't have to each to much, but often. He said that it will help me to increase my weight. But until now, I just did it a few times. Never success after a few days. I don't know why. Maybe because I don't really have time or don't like to eat that often.

I have heard quite the opposite, actually. I have heard if you eat more times per day and have smaller meals, that you will lose weight, something about metabolism. I can tell you, though, that it doesn't work either way for me. I am very thin and have been trying to gain weight for a very long time, and pretty much nothing has worked. I have a topic on here somewhere about gaining weight. A lot of people have answered, so maybe you can check that out.

what a silly question it is. bus still one must answer this. i eat 3 times a daily. one must not skip the meal as it deteriotes our health. if someone is really fay and wats to decreaser the weight then they can skip the meal one time. that ias ok for them.

I eat usually three meals a day with dessert (snack) at the end of the day. I drink plenty of Green Tea and Hot tea. I also eat alot of fruits and veggies. I don't eat red meat. I usually only eat chicken and turkey. I also eat yogurt at least 3 times a week. You have to also keep active to help you lose weight.

I eat 4-5 smaller meals or snacks a day. Eating smaller meals, as opposed to 3 big meals, helps speed up your metabolism, which helps in utilizing the energy from your food instead of just storing it and gaining weight. I would suggest eating smaller meals to spread out your intake, that way you don't feel as hungry and you don't put on as much weight.

I have 3 meals a day and then snacks on top. If you are trying to lose weight you will find that you will lose more if you eat breakfast lunch and dinner, as research has show that people who skip breakfast find it harder to lose weight.

I have heard this too! I hear if you are trying to lose weight if you eat more than three times a day, but have much smaller meals, you will feel hungry less and your metabolism will change. I am very thin, so I do not have to worry about this. It is just something I heard and thought I would share!
