More Alaskans Now Disapprove Than Approve of Sarah Palin

Hays Research Group releases a poll showing 47.5% of Alaskans either feel somewhat or very negatively about Sarah Palin, while 46.8% feel somewhat or very positive about the ex-governor. http://www.gop12.com/2009/07/more-alaskans-disapprove-of-palin.html I'm NOT obsessed with Sarah Palin nor am I afraid of her. However, she continues to make news and I like to start discussions that are likely to get responses and I prefer NOT to start discussions that would be little more than duplicates of those others have started. IF I lived in Alaska, which I can hardly imagine since I HATE the cold, I have no way of knowing how I'D answer this kind of poll so please don't say this is an attack. Annie

It shouldn't be a surprise to anyone that her positive poll ratings in Alaska are slipping. Last fall there was a video of people in her home town of Wasilla were campaigning against her and carrying signs stating why. She not only is a "quitter", she even let down the people who voted for her to be Governor by running out on them. I'm sure a lot of the republicans in Alaska and across the lower states are dissapointed in her. I spent 2 winters in the Fairbanks area when in the service and people who haven't experienced the weather up there have no idea what "cold" is. One winter it got down to 62 below zero and 40 below was normal.

Well after seeing Obama's new approval ratings he is right about there with her. A little more than half like waht he is doing and a little less than half don't. Those margins are close in both cases. YOu might as well say the country is split ALMOST equally on both. But see how Palin stepped down it really does not matter anymore. As for Obama....well he still has to worry about his. At least I hope he does. Bush did not care about his approval ratings at all. I hope Obama does.

Actually Obama's doing a little worse depending on which poll you watch. The latest Rasmussen poll has him at only 48% approval with 51% disapproving.

I have seen several polls lately. All the numbers a little different. But all show the same thing......it approval ratings are dropping. If it keeps up at this pace by the end of four years he be in trouble.

Lil, I'm sorry, I could have sworn I'd replied to you before! You're sure right about Bush and especially Cheney - they really didn't care at all how the people felt about the things they were doing. In some ways I'm afraid Obama's taking it too far to the other extreme, at least as far as trying to gain favor with those who will never be willing to work with him no matter what he does. I think the President's approval/disapproval ratings may be a bit misleading right now especially as they pertain to health care. Sure, some of those whom disapprove of how he's handled the health care issue feel that way because they're opposed to his ideas as they've been presented by the media but many are disappointed because they fear there will once again not be anything done about the crisis in this country. I really do not understand why the people of Alaska would not have her at 100% approval rating, I mean come on she taxed the heck out of the oil companies and was able to give the people of Alaska so much more money on their "living in Alaska" check. If I lived there I would approve of her positively since she was allowing me to have so much extra money. Money can't buy love but it can buy my approval lol

That's an excellent point! I've said that if I lived in Alaska I'm not sure how I'd have answered the question but I'd imagine if I'd REALLY needed that fat check and she GAVE it to me I'd approve of her too...lol! Annie

I think she'll be making news for a while. Eventually it will fizzle out though. It doesn't matter to me since I don't pay much attention to that kind of news.

It will fizzle out once she doesn't do anything to get the media's attention, I guessd. However, there are those who would be thrilled with an "All Sarah, All the Time" 24/7 network, both among her fans and her detractors. Annie

What is she planning to do now that she had resign from being Governor. i don't know if i could give comment about this politician but i think she has a long way to go for that presidency on 2012, if she will pursue it that is. and polls? you should believe of what you think of her and not what the polls says..

I can't argue with you there although she sure did gain her share of admirers. Annie

It's pretty meaningless since she's left office and there's really no job to approve of anymore. The last poll taken while she was still in office had her with a 54% approval which is still better than Obama. Right now his approval is lower than Bush's was at this point.

Well, wasn't the poll that showed her with a 54% approval rating taken before she announced she'd be quitting? I guess this poll only means something if she intends to continue in politics. She IS a public figure and I've seen no indication that she intends to simply disappear into private life anytime soon, have you? Annie
