I went to my friend's house the other day and I was amazed to see the wonderful sunflowers blooming in their front yard. I couldn't say anything except to keep on looking at those flowers. Eversince I was a child, I always loved sunflowers. Seldom do I see them now in our village (or should I say, there is no Sunflowers here). I asked for some seeds but unfortunately, I forgot to bring them with me. I think the only best thing to do is for me to buy seeds and plant them. .. I just don't know if I can make them live and bloom. LOL. . .. If not, I will just eat sunflower seeds. .. .

Yeah dorisday, l love this yellow sunflower as well. I had planted this beautiful flower in my front courtyard unexpectedly few months back.
I found a quarter pack of sunflower seeds when tidying the fridge. From the label on it I noticed that it had expired for nearly 3 months. I dared not take them but dumped away all the seeds on the front yard as a way of making compose for yielding of manual.
It didn’t occur to me, after a week or so there are lots of new seedlings available on the yard. I then took good care of them daily. The plants grew well and flourished. The big blooming flowers are really fascinating They attracted my neighbors to watch them. They even asked me to keep some seeds for them
Happy posting

My grandfather used to raise sunflowers and I think they are fasinating! He had some that would grow so tall that they looked like small trees. Then he would harvest the seeds and roast them with salt and we would have a wonderful treat. So when I see a sunflower it reminds me of my grandpa....I hope you get them to grow...they are awesome!

Anyone can make sunflowers live and bloom :-) You can find inexpensive sunflower growing kits in the gardening centers of places like K-Mart. They are cute and come with all the materials you need to successfully grow a sunflower plant including the instructions. Get one and soon you will be able to eat your OWN sunflower seeds!
Go for it. You will be glad you did, and maybe afterwards you will upload photos of your sunflowers so we can all enjoy seeing them.

I think they are beautiful. How wonderful it is to have such a cluster of beauty that grows on this earth! LOL
... my Grandmother loved Sunflowers. When I visit her, I try to bring her some of her favorite flowers in the colors she adored.

You're not going to believe this... last summer, we have one sunflower standing out in our backyard, the beauty of it cannot be compared to the other graceful roses, cosmos, dahlias nearby. We were rather surprised, and decided that it can only be brought to grow there by the birds we feed all this while. What a lovely way for the bird to say thank you to us!

I love sunflowers (and sunflower seeds!) and keep trying to grow them, but we have too many squirrels here and they like them, too. Unfortunately, the idiots like them before they even mature, so I don't have a chance. They leave the wild sunflowers alone, though, so I have them growing in my backyard just to look at. They're so cheerful that I like to see them each morning.

Yeah, sunflowers are really nice. I always think they are cheerful, I'm not sure if it's because of the name 'sun' that makes me feel it's full of sunlight, or the flower itself is like 'smiling' happily.
If you really like sunflowers, you may just ask your friend how he can successfully plant the sunflowers, and you'll be able to plant them nicely for sure.
Have a "sunflower" day!! ^_^

hi dorisday yes indeed I love sunflowers they are so sunny and so cheery. where I came from as a kid we would pick the wild sunflowers and bring them to our moms as bouquets. now a lot of florists keep sunflowers on hand, and some nurseries sell them potted also. They are a really cheerful addition to any yard and if someone plants blue flowering plants at their base you will have a really gorgeous yard. take care, hatley here.

Hi, dorsiday1971. I am not that big of a fan of Sunflowers. But, I think that these type of flowers are very appealing to the senses. They make you feel bubbly and happy when you look at them. They have a way of awakening your senses to feel more vibrant and happy. I have noticed that many people love this flower. And for the reasons that I have explained, that is why they love this flower.

I wanted to grow one for my daughter but then it rained and the seed floated up to the top so we didn't try it again since but I wouldn't mind trying it when he doesn't rain so much. We will see maybe next year.

Sunflowers are such a happy flower. They always look like they are smiling. I especially like the Giant Mammoth which can get up to twelve feet tall. I've accidentally mowed all mine down this year. Oh well, there's always next year after the yard is tilled.
Did you know?

The sunflower head is not a single flower? Unlike its name implies, it's actually made up of about 1,500 individual flowers joined at a common receptacle. Pretty neat, huh?
*Sunflower oil and kernels have both health benefits and a wonderful flavor.
