Do You Ever Find Mistakes???

I watch a lot of movies & recently I've been seeing a lot of mistakes. I'd think people were just becoming careless with their job except the years these movies were made varied widely. Like today, the Mom was cooking & talking to her daughter. She says, let me get the Macaroni & Cheese out so we can eat. She walks over to the stove, opens the oven & reaches in. She pulls out a pan & as she's walking toward the camera, she has a pan of biscuits in her hands NOT Macaroni & Cheese. Also, she had left the oven door open, yet the oven behind her the oven door was closed. Do you ever catch mistakes in movies??? If so, what were they???

lol..That was a good one Lady M.There are a few mistakes that I have caught, both in serials and in movies. I remember that while watching a serial on the Tele, I saw that the lead character had his watch on in one scene and in the blink of an eye, his watch was gone.I realized this coz I was admiring his watch. I have also seen a movie which had a dance routine in which there were 7 or 8 dancers doing a hip-hop routine. What was so crazy was that in some portions of the dance 1 of the dancers had his jacket on, and then in the very next second the jacket vanished. This kept happening through the dance routine.lol.I saw this movie on DVD, so I kept rewinding to check if what I thought I saw, I really did see..

LOL. The missing watch was in a serial that was aired in my country. The missing jacket was in the final dance routine in "Step Up 2"..LOL

Funnily enough, yes. Never really thought about it before but the movie "Demolition Man" with Sly Stalone, somes to mind. Wesley Snipes, who plays the baddie, has one blue eye and one black. In one scene the blue eye is on the left side. In the next it's on the right or it might not be there at all. Was a long time ago but I do remember that.

Yes, that's the kind of mistakes I'm talking about. I think it was in the 70s that the studios added an assistant to watch for those kind of things while filming. Guess somebody fell asleep. I don't usually pick up on them, but this lady was making such a big deal about her Mac & Cheese. When she took it out of the oven, she did it with one hand & NO effort. A baked Mac & Cheese is generally heavy enough it takes 2 hands & some effort so I was paying close attention when she turned around & headed for the dining room. Once she faced the camera I could tell it wasn't Mac & Cheese so I kept watching close. When I saw biscuits/rolls I looked to see if I missed he sitting the Mac & Cheese on the stove & I didn't notice. Nope, NO M&C. That's when I realized that the open oven door had been closed. I was very pleased with myself for noticing!!!

I see mistakes all the time! A really common one is when there's been a car accident or shots fired etc and in later scenes you'll find the car's miraculously fixed itself and the dents and broken windshield is perfect again! There's a Schwarzenneger movie where he totals a car and the side is all banged up, but when he drives away in the next scene, the car hasn't got a scratch on it. For the life of me I can't seem to remember the movie title, but I THINK it was Commando. In Raiders of the Lost Ark too, there's a scene showing a close up of one of the characters and you see a fly crawl into his mouth! lol.

Good examples James!!! I was watching the original Knight Rider years ago & David had Kitt jump a HUGE hill. When the car landed the front of that car crumpled like a piece of aluminum foil. The car skids up to a store & stops. In the closeup, the car is perfect again. I found it funny that an invincible car looked like aluminum foil for a sec there!!!

You are right with Commando, he totalled a yellow porsche then it miracualously fixed itself.

I remember seeing a western as a kid...and in the beautiful blue sky overhead...you could see a plane flying. WHoops! I also notice where a person has a beverage...and one camera has the glass almost empty and another the glass is full. Or the person is wearing a different shirt. I can't remember the specific shows.

Thinking about planes....or something that shouldn't be there. I have to look at my old VHS version of the Lord Of The Rings Movie...supposedly one can see a red truck driving in the background as Frodo and Sam are leaving Hobbiton...it was later edited out in the DVD version though

Hiya sweetie.. We meet again, I see.. If you read the answer that I gave to Alice, well.. that's one.. and this one is not a spoof, really but if you remember 3 Men and a Baby.. well..one scene whereby a little boy stands near the curtain area .. and some said it's a ghostly apparition. I went to check out that scene and I did see the little boy. Try looking for it on the tube if you haven't yet.. I think there should be one since I watched it when the movie was shown on TV a few years back.

I never really seem to find mistakes but I do know that a few people are really good at spotting these things. Like I heard someone saw the camera's reflection on the door knob in the Matrix. It's hard to believe but if it's true then that's one heck of an observation.

Lol Archie. Did you even read the discussion? Anyways, what movie was it that you saw this mistake in? Perhaps I may even be able to find it if I watch it.

Gloamglozer, I don't usually find them either. That's why I was so shocked to see such a blatant mistake. Archie. I'm speaking of errors in movies NOT the every day average human making a mistake!!! I have plenty of patience with human error. I don't usually catch those little differences in movie. I didn't consider this a little error in this one either!!!

I have caught a few mistakes in a few movies. Like the movie Rundown. In an earlier fight the Rock gets his shirt ripped on one side then Towards the end of the movie in the fight scene he is walking towards the camera and the rip is on the other side..then it goes to something else and comes back and it is back on the right side again. My hubby thought I was nuts when I noticed that..He may have been into the fight scene but I was all eyes for the man Dwayne Johnson. But he rewinded and sure enough I was right.

How can you not notice EVERY ripple of Dwayne Johnson??? I'm terrible at picking out errors in movies as I'm usually immersed in the movie. In this case the actress was making such a BIG deal over her ability to make Macaroni & Cheese that when she lifted it out of the oven, it just struck me as strange that she lifted it so easily. Of course I watched close when she turned around & walked into the camera. I had to laugh when I saw rolls. If she hadn't done a whole speech on her Mac & Cheese, I'd never had noticed it!!!

Nope I can't say I have and I have to say that is a bad and obvious mistake, as you say someone has not been doing their job there at all

People are specifically hired to watch out for these kind of errors. If it wasn't for that, I'd just think oops!!!

I do find mistakes some times. They are usually the movies which have some musical concerts or just songs being played by the artists. It is usually the lip synchronization which goes wary when the songs is being played. Not a big thing though, although we know that there are playback singers, it is good to see the artists sync with the lyrics.

Yes, I can't watch a movie or TV show where the lips don't sync. I just have to listen instead of watching. It drives me nuts. Out of sync is usually a film editing problem not an error in the filming of the movie.

Yes, it does happen that I notice mistakes in certain movies that I watch. It doesn't happen very often, but it happens nonetheless. I notice some things, some times, but not everything, not all the time.

Yup!! I have found some. Some were historically incorrect, like technolgy that was not available during the time period. I am amazed how they can miss this stuff!!

Especially on TV shows, I constantly hear reference to things that hadn't even been invented yet. They are always bragging about the research put into the shows. So I wonder who writes back in what research has edited out???
2 Aug 09
I am always catching mistakes even more so with modern movies. One thing which is happening more and more often is someone will refer to someone by their actual name rather than their character name which is not always that easy to pick up.

Yeah there are times when I'm watching one the second time around that I'll notice things. Like they had something in their left hand and suddenly it's in the right hand. Or maybe a jacket was is buttoned then unbuttoned. There was a program about editting clips, bloopers if you will that showed editting errors. I like those kinds of shows makes you really think about what you're watching.

Actually this was the end of the movie so it would have been easy to fix. Nobody was talking ...just walking out of the room/scene.

Heehee--I just love catching "bloopers" in movies. Of course, sometimes it seems there are a lot of bloopers when there aren't. What I mean is...say one watches the theatrical version of Lord Of The Rings: Fellowship of the Ring...there are bloopers galore until you watch the extended version and then you see how they had cut the part out of a scene making it seem like a blooper. There's a blooper in the beginning of the movie "The Seeker"---the movie starts with Will Stanton a 14 year old kid being let out of school for the Christmas holidays...he meets up with his siblings. Up ahead of him is this rather beautiful girl who turns around and kind of flirts with him..she's wearing black leather boots...then all get on board a bus to go home...a few rows up from where Will and his siblings are sitting is that girl again, and flirty...then she gets up for her bus stop...but now she's wearing tan suede boots instead...mmmm...quick change no?

Well as far as I'm concerned...if they edit the movie to where the details don't flow, it's still a mistake!!!!

I don't really watch movies much and don't notice stuff like that. You're really observant! It sounds as if someone isn't paying attention to things. That reminds me of a macaroni and cheese recipe I found a few years ago. It was really, really good! I might buy some macaroni this week and make up a small batch!

Hi LadyM, You are very observant, I wouldn't notice little things like that, too busy following the story line, so now that you mentioned it I will be looking out for these mistakes, it could fun. Tamara

I probably wouldn't have noticed either, but the lady made a HUGE production about her Mac & Cheese. Then she walked over to the stove to take it out. She didn't appear to be putting in enough effort to be getting Mac & Cheese so I kept watching close. When she turned around it didn't look like Mac & Cheese so I watched even closer. When I saw the rolls, I broke out laughing!!! Assuming that I missed something, I looked behind her to see if the Mac & Cheese was still on the stove. That's when I noticed the oven door closed. It was fate that made me catch this!!!
