Are you close to your mom?

I'm proud to say I am. She is one of my bestest friend. We do a lot of things together like watch movies, eat out, do some shopping and so much more. She gives me sound advices on love and career and she always supports me in my every decision. Of course, there are times that we fight and we don't talk for days. But I guess that's just part of it. We fight, then we make up, then we just laugh at how silly we were. I love my mom so much and I'm really happy we have this great relationship. How about you? Are you and your mother close? If not, why not?

No, I'm not close to my mother. I'd like to think that I used to be, but at this point in my life, I think that it's safe for me to say that I'm not. Neither of us really know each other. The other day, she was suggesting me what type of dress she would see me wear for an occasion, but I told her that the sort of dress that she was describing was the sort of thing that my sister wears. It's not the sort of dress that I wear. We just grew apart.

That's quite sad to hear. Is there anything that started you growing apart? Was there a fight or anything like that? Did you just not talk as much? I'm a bit curious as to what caused that.

I really can't say exactly when we started to grow apart. We just fought quite a bit when I was living at home. And I just really feel like she still thinks that I'm a little girl, even at 21. I just started to figure this out, when I went away to school.

Thanks for your honesty. I recognize the fact that not everyone has this great relationship with their parents. But hey, it's not yet too late to change things and get to know each other better. :) I hope that whatever gap you have now will be bridged by love and time.

So nice, the world seems to be so nice when your mom's your friend. I too love the fact that my mom's close to me. It just feels so nice to go and talk with your friends when in trouble, and when that friend is your mom, well you know how it feels... Take care, have a great day...

Yes, my mother and I are close. We always have been. We do lots of stuff together and I enjoy spending time with her. She is on vacation right now and I'm housesitting for her so I'm trying to keep her house clean and make sure everything here is taken care of but I can't wait until she gets back home. My dad drove a truck all the time while my brother and I were coming up so my mom was the one that did everything for us. So I think maybe that's why my brother and I are so close to our mom. We love our dad but we are just closer to our mom.

My mother is also my best friend. We like to go shopping with each other. We go out to eat together sometimes and we sometimes travel together. She is the best source of advice that I can ever get, but she never steps into my life in places where I don't ask her too. Now that I'm an adult, it really is like we are more friends than we are mother and daughter.

My mom and I are really close. She means the world to me. There is nothing that I wouldn't do for her. I lost my dad when I was in high school, not that he was around most of the time anyway. Growing up my mom had to play the part of both parents. Even though we used to fight a lot when I was growing up, I respected her for what she was doing. Now she is my best friend. She once told me that when I was growing up she wasn't supposed to be my friend. She had to be my parent. That "friendship" would come later. Well, I guess "later" finally arrived!

This is really nice, thanks! When I was younger, my mom and I were already close since my father left us when we were still very young... but it was like the relationship of a mother and a child. My mother was a bit of a disciplinarian, which I understood perfectly. Now that I am older, she is not only my mother, she has become my best friend too. So I can totally relate to what you just shared.

I am very close to my mother. I don't know what I would do without her since she is someone I could count on always. I think every good mother is like that. Not judging, always understanding, always there to cheer you up. I'm glad my mother is like that but I have known people who really don't like their mother. It makes me pretty sad but at the same time you have to think there is some sort of reason behind it. I'm interested in seeing why people don't like their mother in this discussion!

Yeah, not everyone has a great relationship with their moms, that's for sure. I guess, all we can do is be thankful that we am blessed with moms who are great and love us unconditionally.

I'm equally proud to be the best friend of my daughters. I had a great relationship with my Mum and tried hard to be the same sort of Mum to my children. We have always moved around and so often the only female company we had was each other. It was easy to become good friends!

No. I love her dearly, but we are just two very different people. We get along in short doses but not in large ones. I would do anything in the world for her, and do, but do not consider her a friend.

I have to say that my mom is my best friend. Both her and my father. I don't know what I would do without them. I tell them everything, even stuff most people would be uncomfortable talking to their parents about. I just always tell myself that they have already done or been through what is going on in my life and they are the best ones to give me advice. I am so appreciative of the relationship I share with my parents. They are the best and I love them so very very much!

I am very close to my mom. She is my best friend! She is the only friend I see multiple times per week, the first person I think of when I want a girlfriend to see a concert/chickflick/artfest. I have 3 sons, no daughters, and that is fine by me. However, I fear that when I am older, I will long for a relationship like the one I have with my mom. Hopefully one of my boys marries someone who will shop and gossip with me! I promise to be the world's greatest mother-in-law!

Yes I am close to my mom. Although I don't tell her exactly everything, i keep i tight relationship with her. I love my mom so much. She supports me with everything. My mom is also quite a joker, both my parents are, so if she sees me sad she always find a way to make me laugh.

Yes I am. She's been with me through my tough times. And she teaches me so many values that I have in me right now. She helps me too in raising my little boy. Yeah, at times we argue about some petty things but I know it's just part of a mother-daughter relationship. I love her so much.
