Hey Everyone! Do you think sports starts earn too much money? I am from England and over here the soccer players earn $200,000 a week. This blows me away and I just can't justify it. Is it the same all around the world? Let me know what you think....

Very true, soccer players retire at around 30-35. It just amazes me the amount they get paid! Do they really need all that money....

No. I don't think so. Their careers are only last 10 years if they are lucky. The money they make now Has to last their lifetime. The owners and the T.V. statioms are getting paid , so why not the athletes? Besides, if the teams don't pay them, then someone else will. I mean there would be guys who would pay a play to throw games.I rather have all the players get paid way too much and try to winn , than they get paid less from the owners and then throw games for more money.

they get paid a lot like other professional athletes because of their fame and interest from their fans. When people really like something, they will pay a lot to watch (movies, concerts, etc) and feel it is justified having their role model or hero making lotf of money. Once people stop watching the games and buying the merchandise, then salaries will go down, as an example the NBA salary cap has decreased, meaning teams have less available funds for the players. Also, the owners and management can defer some of the costs because of sponsorships and taxpayers money that goes towards the salaries. Professional sports is an extremely limited field, only about 25 to 30 players are on a soccer team, maybe a few thousand players playing professionally in any country, that's the only justification for their high salaries. They are the best at what they do, how many people are among the best in the nation at what they do?

They get paid way too much money. So what if they are good? They are playing a game for goodness sake. 10 year olds can play the games in streets. How many ten year olds can do brain surgery or design and oversee the construction of a building? Although I do think they deserve to get paid pretty well, seeing as they are one of the biggest forms of entertainment out there and help keep regular people sane. But having rookie pro football players, who are completely untested in the league and might be absolutely terrible, getting paid $38 million dollars is ridiculous.
