Good day my fellow MyLotters,
Some of us here in MyLot are from a tropic country like me, I am from Philippines. And there are times or seasons that we feel a very hot climate. It is very irritating to our body when we feel hot or we have sweat a lot. During at night it is very difficult to sleep, when we are having a hot climate . I am not a rich guy, so what we use to lessen the heat is to use our electric fan, we have 2 electric fans in our room, and it is a great help for us . If I could only have some money, I would buy an Air Conditioner. How bout you my fellow MyLotters, what do you use, electric fan or Air Conditioner?
God bless.
Happy MyLotting .

as we all know that during summer season, the climate is so hot.. so during those days, we prefer to use aircon because airconditoner is much better than using an electric fan right? and also, we are all aware that most of us doesn't have an aircon because not everybody can afford to buy an aircon.. so as much as i would like to use aircon, im just using electric fan instead.. ahehehehe!!! its cheap compare to the aircon..

Good day rrubbershoes,
Yeah you are right it much better to use an air conditioner during summer if you have one, but if you don't have any like me, I just suite my self to a electric fan . And you are right electric fans are cheap in price and consumes less electricity that air conditioner. Thank you for your response.
God Bless.

I don't live in a tropical country, like the philippines, but I do live in a tropical state, Florida, and it gets very uncomfortable here too. I don't enjoy paying the high energy bill, so I use the air conditioners sparingly. I have one upstair and one downstairs, they were already installed before I purchased the home in 1999. I keeping the controls at 78 degees, sometimes a little higher. The house is also equipped with 5 ceiling that are operating most of the time. I am not complaining about the tropical conditions here, because I know you must have a more difficult time dealig with the extreme tropical heat there.

Oh my electric fan has done a great help for me in giving relief from heat. I have two electric fans also, a stand fan and ceiling fan but I don't use them both at the same time. It would be too much use of electricity when 2 fans would be running. Besides, electric fans do need to take rest sometimes so, when I turn off the other to have rest I'll turn on the other one to still keep the room cool enough and comfortable.
Ciao!

Good day iskayz,
Electric fans, gives a lot of help for a lot of people, for giving them relief from heat, specially for those who don't have and can't afford to buy air conditioners. And you are right about the electricity that can consumed by two electric fans that are running at the same time . Thank you for your response.
God bless.

hmm, these 2 months, it really becomes very hot here too.
but it's enough for me to sleep with the fan on when at home. i even put small quilt on when in the evening. maybe cause the room has a good airiness.
but when in the office, we turn on the aircondition.

Aircon is very expensive and it can consumed so much electricity. I also here in the Philippines we also use electric fan because we can't afford to buy aircon. Only rich people can afford it. Now that the electricity here in the Philippines is expensive I think using aircon is not practical for ordinary people like us. Now that it is raining I like it very much because I can sleeps better. During summer season it's very difficult to sleep because it is very hot.

Good day yolanda19191,
We are both lucky during office hours, cause in my work place there is also an air conditioner, but sometimes it makes me feel cold when I am at office, cause I think my body can get use to a very low temperature . Thank you for your response. And by the way, what country are you in?
God bless.

Like you i am from a tropical country. It is always hot here but i don't use the air-conditional unless the heat is intolerable. Fan is definitely good enough for me. But i have some friends whom switch on the air-con everyday. I find it a waste of electricity.

I use an electric fan during summers. In India the summers can be too hot so sometimes it is very difficult to sleep under those electric fans. In those times I use table fans. Try sleeping outside or on the terrace with table fan on full blast. You won't feel hot. Actually it feels very nice. It has an added benefit also. You can wake up with the rising sun, as you are sleeping outside sun will wake you up early in the morning.

I used to have a lot of problems with heat during the summer nights and it was difficult to sleep. I used a large fan, but the noise tended to keep me half-awake. I saved up some money and went and bought a portable, small air-conditioner. It wasn't too expensive. Now I can cool the room down a few hours before going to be, and switch it off during the night when I sleep. The room is warm again in the morning, but at least I have slept during the night. - Derek

Good day to you too :-) No the one I purchased is just an air-conditioning unit. We don't have to put anything in it, for it has a built-in refridgeration unit. We did buy one that you had to put water in, but took it back, because it wasn't that effective at cooling the air. We have to drain the water from the one we've got now every day though that the machine takes out of the air. - Derek

Good day derek_a,
Just like you it was also difficult for me to sleep during hot summer nights. Good thing for you have bought yourself your own portable air conditioner . Is is the one that they call air-cooler, the one needs some ice to produce cold air? Thank you for your response.
God bless.

Our family also has aircon at home but we rarely use it now because of its high electricity cost. I still remember when my mom bought it. My brothers and I were very glad thinking that our suffering from the extreme heat will be over. But when the bill arrived, our mother was so shocked to see that our bill doubled. So, she decided to limit our aircon usage. We just use it every summer when the heat is intolerable. But that's okay, at least we have a lot of electric fans.

Good day cherryblossm90,
Yeah you are right, air conditioner will be one of the solutions for suffering from heat, but in return it will make you suffer for the electric bill . So we should be wise on using air conditioner, and think of some best way on how to save energy while using it . Thank you for your response.
God bless.

I live in the southern part of India. It is extremely hot in the summer.Recently the scorching heat is there for about 8 months So it is impossible to sleep without an airconditioner in this hot kind of weather.Thank God we are able to afford an airconditioner .Otherwise we too would have to manage with an electic fan.It is true that 10 years ba ck most of us did not have airconditioners and we it was not that hot .But now due to global warming we have to mange ourselves .

Good day visaseetharaman,
There a lot of MyLotters who respond in this discussion that is from India like you . And from your responses, I think that each one of the houses there should have an air conditioner or else you could have an sleepless nights, but I guess not all of you guys can afford to buy an air conditioner . Thank you for your response.

At night, I use an electric fan in my room. When I am in the living room, I use the air con. I find that the room is plenty cool with the fan at night and if I do start sweating, the fan dries and cools me. I usually only keep the air on in the living room until the room cools off then I turn it off again so that I don't use too much electricity. Thanks for bringing up the topic.

I don't put it in the room because I don't think the landlord would appreciate it. Besides, if I am too cold, I can't sleep either. Have a great day and stay cool!!!

Good day daeckardt,
It is pretty much healthy to use an electric fan, and it really a great help to cool you up and dry your sweat . But I got one question, why don't just put your air conditioner in your room? Thank you for your response.

When the temperature reaches 100 to 104 degrees each afternoon as it has been doing this summer her in south central Texas, air conditioning is not a luxury. It is a necessity.

Good day bellis716,
Yes indeed if that was the case, it is very necessary to use an air conditioner. 100 to 104 degrees, whew that was so hot . I think no one can withstand that kind of heat . Thank you for your response and thank your for sharing this information to us.
God bless.

As far as my opinion is concern. I don't buy aircondioning for one common reason. Due to its ability to consume more current than electric fan. As we all know electric bills, in the Philipines, is one of the highest bills all over the world if I didn't mistake...So I prefer Electric fan to save current and money for practical reason.
Another reason is that. I don't have money to buy air-con and paid bills..lol.!
happy myloting...!!

Good day aeroyus,
That is really one of the factors why many people don't buy an air conditioner, and if some people have they use very rarely, cause it consumes lot of electricity . And you are absolutely right, about the price of electricity here in our country . Thank you for your response and for your bright inputs.
God bless.

I still choose electric fan because I don't have aircon. And I can afford the bill if we have an aircon inside our house hahahaha. I am fond of using electric, although we have aircon at work. For me electric fan can give me air, but aircon give me cold air. I can't take cold air. I can take an only air not cold air hahahahaha. But if someday I will have an aircon, i will it adjust it to fan.

Good day grecychunny26,
There are lot us who still choose electric fan instead of air con. And like you too, I think I can't afford my electric bill if I am going to have an air conditioner . We are just the same about the cold air. Thank you for your response.

i use the ceiling fan most of the time. however, during the hottest months, i can't sleep without switching on the air conditioner. my utility bill goes up quite a bit during these months. however, i can't function if i don't sleep well at night. thankfully the hot months are not the norm. now that the weather is better, i only use the ceiling fan.

Good day applefreak,
Air condition really increases electric bill, that is the reason why other people don't use their air conditioner . But air condition is really a great help to make a good night sleep, during hot days. Thank you for your response.
God bless.

Hi brienn,
During the day I use the electric fan, and since it's always humid in our country, we have electric fan in all parts of the house. At night we use the AC(air conditioner) because my kids won't be able to sleep without the AC turned on. Yes, it's really expensive when you use the AC everyday, but I have no choice unless I want to go sleepless the whole night as the kids will be very fussy.

If I am on your situation I think I will do the same, why should I mind the high cost of electricity, if it is the only way that you and your family specially your kids to sleep comfortably during those hot summer nights . Thank you for your response.

hi brienn, thanks for sharing this discussion.. as we are living in the same climate, as then I could understand how you feel during those hot hot days. I used to have a electric fan, but now, as my baby could not tolerate the weather, my bro installed an air cond for this little girl.. I think our climate is getting hotter year by year..

hi there,
I do the same thing with you. From the place that I work for sets air-conditioning on all day long, and when I get back home, the temperture does not as hot as we are at noon, so an fan is enough with me. I just open the air conditioning on if it is too hot.
Good day!
