Smoking

I don't have anything against a person who smokes although I think it would be in their best interest if they would quit. I also believe that your body is the temple of the holy spirit. This is in I Cor. 6: 19. I do have a lot of allergies and I'm not allergic to cigarette smoke. However, I can't stand to be around it because it does aggravate my allergies. I heard on the news on radio today about a restaurant manager who had asked some customers not to smoke. I don't remember the exact details but it seems he tried to take their cigarettes away from them and they shot him! Isn't this terrible?! I ran a bookstore from 1984 to 1986 and I used to wouldn't allow customers to smoke because it bothered my allergies. I had signs in different locations of the store saying "Thank you for not smoking". Below this, it said "American Cancer Society". I even had one on the door. You might be surprised at how many people don't pay any attention to these signs! If they came in there smoking anyway, I would just have to tell them not to. Sometimes they would get mad but I didn't care. How about you? Do you smoke? If you do, have you ever tried to quit? If you don't smoke, are you allergic to it? If you're not, does it bother you anyway? Give me your houghts on this. Kathy.

It was a terrible event I heard before, just for somking, are they human beings? I can't understand why people are so easy to be angry, to be mad today. We already heard so many terrible events. I am not a smoker, and I am not allergic to it, but I stil don't like people smoking at opening area, they can smoke in washroom or some private places, but never at public. Smokers should care about others.

Hi pandachina! Thank you for your response and welcome to mylot! This is very true! People need to be more considerate of others and they shouldn't be so easy to get mad. Even if it didn't aggravate my allergies, I still wouldn't like it because I can't stand the odor. It's very hard to get rid of. Kathy.

i also can't stand the smell of smoke... i will be choked and coughed non-stop if i have to smell the smoke... and i really hate it... so i always try to stay as far away as possible from smokers... i don't have any grudge or hard feelings towards them... but i just want to take care of my health... take care and have a nice day...

Hi lingli_78! I don't blame you. I stay as far away from smokers as I can, myself. If I'm around somebody smoking, my sinues stop up, my eyes get watery, and I have a time clearing my throat. I don't hold any grudges against these people, either, but I do wish they would be a little more thoughtful of other people and think about what they are doing for themselves. If my sister is around anybody smoking, her face just gets red as a beet! Thank you for responding and happy mylotting! Kathy.

Or step outside of a resturant when others are finish eatting then go back in to pay the bill. The only gripe I have is not being able to smoke in the bars for no kids are surpose to be in them any how. We dont smoke in the house but one room but most times we go outside Summer and winter. To tell you the way I think Kathy, is that I am a Christian but I do not smoke because of that at all. To me, I agree that our bodies are the temples of the Holy Spirit but I honestly think that He is more worried about what is in our minds and souls than in our lungs. But that is just my interpretation and I do respect your interpretation. I would not smoke as it would raise my risk of getting cancer - although second hand smoke is also a HUGE problem so therefore I do not like people eto smoke around me in my home. If it is in their home then I do not say anything because of politeness. I would not have allowed people to smoke in any store as the smell of smoke is so hard to get rid of and permeates everywhere. I am sorry about that man though in the restaurant - that story is horrific. Many blessings

I do not smoke, but my husband smokes. I often disturbed my husband smoking activities. I often chide him for not smoking near children and me. my husband does not care, he was smoking wherever he wants. while smoking near his wife and child, harm his wife and children.

hi indahfth! It sounds like your husband can't stand to be told what to do. I don't blame him because I don't like it, either. On the other hand, he needs to think about the health hazards he is causing you and your children as well as himself. If he doesn't care now, he will care someday. Thank you for responding and happy mylotting. Kathy.

I am a smoker, and yes it is a bad habit, and it is probable the only one that i have. I have been smoking now for about 40 years, and i will probably keep smoking for another 40 years. We go out to dinner about once a week, and in the past we went to different places, but since the laws changed we only go to one place because they still allow smoking, and they do not let anyone under the age of 21 in the door. Because the way the law is . if you allow children in their is no smoking allowed. It was a smart thing to do on their part because it is the only place around where smokers can go out for the evening, and get a good meal, they have also added a bar, and a dance floor in one section and started having bands, and dj's different nights of the week, and up stairs they have added some pool tables. and the place is packed every night. I know that a place where i can not smoke will not get my business any more.

Personally, I have been smoking for quite sometime and I recently just quit. When I went out to places that were smoking it bothered me the smell of the smoke was overwhelming and it was ridiculously gross. I was hardly able to believe that I did that. Also I always felt so disgusting like I had a cloud of stench following me, and every time I talked I had dragon breath. Now that I have quit I do feel so much better about myself. More confident, more outgoing, and I definitely feel much more prettier.

Hi ashley1171! You are to be congratulated for quitting! I have often heard that once people quit smoking, they can't stand to be around other people who are smoking. It's hard to breathe in a smoke filled atmosphere, isn't it? I never have understood why some teenagers think it's so cool to smoke! Like I've already told some mylotters, I always wanted to be a singer, myself, and I wanted to take care of my voice. I know some singers smoke and I don't understand why they do it. Kathy.
