yesterday, i was watching a mad tv political satire in youtube against george dubya bush. then i looked at the comments page. one of the comments said something like "at least dubya did something like this etc but obama hasn't done anything, he's pushing the health reform for his "brothers" but it would put the U.S. in more debt."
another comment said "a ni&&er runs the counrty!" and im like what does this have to do with obama. i mean like,..if obama makes a program that not everyone agrees about why is it that you blame it on his race? why is it such a big deal for americans and even start calling him ni&&er? as if they dont have the capacity..? maybe in the future, all his mistakes would be blamed, not on him and his cabinet, but on his race. how pathetic.
all races are the same.we are all equal..why is there still racism in the land of the free?

For the same reasons they are racist against anyone else, what ever reason that may be. Racism has always existed and always will exist. This does not mean we should excuse it or not fight it. Hate is never right nor is it ever productive.
But lets make sure of what we are fighting. There is a perception of the united states as a racist country, primarily because of our past history of slavery. we certainly weren't the only or even the worst, just the most famous for it. Today we are a very diverse nation with many ethnicities and races. there are successfully and powerfull people of all races and creeds here now, including the highest office in the land now and many lower but still very powerfull and important positions in government. This also extends to many professions and fields...lawyers, doctors, professors, comany executives and owners.
To say the U.S. is still an institutionaly racist country is a blatent fallicy. Yes we have racism in our society, but it is far from wide spread or institutionaly implimented. This thought is completely at odds with what we witness every day and experience in our day to day lives and careers. If you believe we are still an inherantly and institutionaly racist nation, you should come spend some time here, see the country, all areas, not just a city or two, live here for a while, experience life in america, you would come away with a very difrerent view of this country.
Now, on to Obama specificly. There is great tendency among a number of his supporters to call racism any time someone objects to a particular action or policy, most often with out any basis at all. For example, any given policy that Obama has on foriegn affairs that was shared by the previous administration's secretary of state. If it wasn't racist to critisize Condoleeza Rice on some of those policies, why is it now racist to critisize Obama on the same policy? Or policies and actions By former secretary of State Colan Powell? Why were those critisims not considered racist? Both mentioned people were successful and powerfull, and both were in fact black. Why was critisism of them not considered racist? Because it WASN'T racism, it was ctitisism of government policy and action, nothing more.

thanks for putting me on the right perspective. i know ive never lived in the US and i would like to see the situation in that country. sometimes what bothers me are the things that i read and that i see on the news or on tv shows and i also understand that most news are news bec. theyre controversial.
i understand that when other politicians (like powell and c. rize) were criticized, it isnt because of their race. but then i was really bothered by those 2 racist comments i saw in youtube, and probably all those other people who criticized obama's programs bec of his race.
thanks for the response xfahctor

People always look for anywhere they can displace their hatred and ignorance... and a lot of them just choose to think that they are superior because their skin is a different color.. It's stupid and uneducated, but it is what it is.. This country has come a long way in the racism battle, but as long as people are still closed minded, it will never be completely over... It's sad but true.. until we can realize that its our minds that matter and not our appearances, it can't change. :(

When You Are the President Of USA .. You Basically Won't know How To react to allegations .. Obama Has Indeed Handled The Stature Of A President Well .. However You Carry Yourself there's Bound To be Opposition .. This Is How Politics Goes On .. But I Personally Don't Mind Anybody ..

Sadly their are people who are very racist in this country. Unfortunately they get thrown in with all of us that disagree with Obama, even though most of us AREN'T racist.
With that being said, those ones you describe aren't the only ones that are racists. Anyone who immediately assumes I don't like Obama because he's black is also racist, for aren't they proving with their very own words that they can't see past the color of his skin? There is racism on both sides of the ethnic lines, sad but it's true.
Maybe one day MLK's dream will come true and we will judge people on the content of their character and not the color of their skin.

In countries of multi-ethnicity where people of all races live under one roof, there will be racism because one race will be dominant. Racism can be avoided if people respect each other, but the trouble is, they don't as they believe they're the most superior. When there is no respect, there will be trouble or they'll create trouble for their leaders.
I guess as long as people continue to treat other races as lower than theirs, as long as they're intolerant, problems would never end.

race religion and gender should be no object. everybody apart from a select few in the usa is from a family that immigrated to america at some point in history therefore he has just as much right to run the country as anyone else.

If you are thinking that racism is finished just because Obama is selected as president of United state, then you are completely wrong. Since those who think they are superior then others still think same. And they will always remain same. Always, there is a small portion of the people who don't change his mind you do what so ever. So please forget them, they don't need any attention.

Unfortunatley wherever you go in life ther will be racism. Its a shame really because every country now has become so diverse you can walk down the street and meet 10 different people who are all different races. We should embrace this not frown upon people and be racist.
