I am sorry to hear that your friend lost her boyfriend. Though I have lost people I loved, I have not lost a partner. I know people that have lost there partners. I do know someone who has lost her fiance though. She is like your girlfriend and is holding on to that relationship. To be honest though I think that when some people do this, it is because they are depressed and alone and holding on to someone who now can never leave you is a security blanket to not living their lives and not getting hurt by someone else. Sounds kinda harsh but many times, true. So how as her friend can you help. Maybe try to find activities you guys can do that won't require hours of talking... I am sure she has done plenty of this. Also something that would get her socializing with people again. This way she can start to creative a life after the passing of her boyfriend. So maybe joining a cycling club or bowling league or something anything you two can enjoy that gets her out and about in a positive way.
