Man, I really hate internet service providers these days, and especially Rogers, who has some of the most expensive rates for c**p! I mean seriously, how can anyone live with only 25 gigs of bandwidth. I guess it is my fault actually, because I wanted to upgrade to a faster interent speed, with my old plan get only about 500kpbs, while my download speed is 3mbps now.
I never knew that just daily browsing can use so much bandwidth, as after downloading a bandwidth meter, I can confirm I use about 1 gig just for browsing! If I watch videos on youtube, that can easily double!
Now, when I was using my old speed, I never once ever came close to reaching the limit, as it was 60 gigs. Now I know why Rogers has done this, because they charge $1.25 per extra Gig. I am so angry and wish I could cancel, but you have to sign a 2 year contract, and also, my building uses mainly Rogers.

I know what you mean we have BT and they are pretty much the same. We thought we had a higher bandwith when we signed up with them, but they are just pains in the butt! It seems that internet service providers can get away with murder and not bothered how much they charge.

Hey,
Yea that isn't good, I have also reached my bandwidth limit for a few months. Yea that is quite funny, we only have 20GB of bandwidth per month, but we do not actually use it all, only one month we somehow used all of it. Make sure you have a good day, God bless and Happy Lotting!!

It's not that bad. Here on vacation I use USB stick modem and the price is unbelievable. 1$ for 5MB and you have 50 or 100MB bandwidth available. I can't watch youtube, I can't even watch pictures- I turned them off in firefox just to save some bandwidth...50MB of bandwidth last me for about a week.

That's the problem with a higher downstream - you end up using up your allowance more quickly. Depending on your usage pattern, you might want to setup a proxy cache on your LAN. I have around 8 active workstations going through a proxy which shows around 40% cache hit rate. ie. 40% of browser-based downloads are not redownloaded. Instead, the data is pulled from my proxy. Kills two birds with one stone - saves on having to redownload data and returns cached data faster.

Normally it depends from your activity..so it seemed that the bandwith should be enough for a good surf on the net from the plan of this provider!!So may be you did not count that you download really heavy contents in this period and so you was surprise now to exceed your band or may be rogers as all companies in the world cheat abit on the internet surf as well!!I heard many people that after they signed up contract like yours for mobile phones and so internet mobile as well they ere really unsatisfied about the policy of the company and strange facts happened to them in relation to the conditions and bandwinth solved after few time..so i think this is the problem when you signed up a contract so long with a single operator...

It depends on your online habit. If you open many video streaming such as on youtube, i believe 100 gig isn't enough for that purposes. But if only for common online activities such as browsing for news, chatting and email, usually 3 gig is enough for a month. But we know that impossible to doing only such common online activities nowadays. As time goes by, the internet life also changed a lot. So i think the internet service provider should make improvment on their services. In my country, the based internet fee is lower from year to year. But the problem now is on the quality of services. Many ISP offering cheap internet access and promising a fast speed. But the fact it's dissapointing after a month f usage. Have a nice day and happy mylotting.

wow, you lucked out. I use Comcast cable and that's cheetah fast, and I rarely have problems with it. Before, when I was living in an apartment complex, I was forced to use AT&T. That plan is okay when there's only one or two using it, but there were five people using it and that leads to AT&T not cooperating. It continually disconnected for no apparent reasons, and complained every time I tried using my Xbox360 to go online. Plus, speeds were ridiculously slow at times.
But now I use comcast, and that plan gets the job done in record time
