What is the best way to use frozen hamburger?

May 24, 2006 5:33pm CST
I am always stuck on dinner ideas, and we tend to have a ton of hamburger in the freezers. All I ever come up with is Pasta.

There are alot ways that you can use Hamburger..You can do Sphghetti,Beef Strognoff,Making homemade pizza with it,Maybe try using some of it in A salad,And the original thing to do with A hamburger is make A hamburger...Which is pretty obvious, L.O.L...Or you could just try,and be you're on creative person, and try different things, and see what you,and you're family like to eat the best,Good luck with that..

We make hamburger patties and freeze them for bar-b-que. Here's a good recipe for hamburger/cabbage casserole: Brown 1 lb. hamburger and a small, chopped onion, with a little garlic. Drain. Meanwhile, chop up 1/2 head of green cabbage. Put both in a casserole dish with 1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese and 2 cans tomato rice soup. You can add some leftover rice if you want to. Bake at 400 degrees for one hour. How about tacos? Brown onion, hamburger, and a little garlic. Shred lettuce, black onions, tomatoes, cheddar cheese. Serve on lightly fried (in oil) corn taco shells (either flat or folded). Add taco sauce, salsa, or sour cream on top. Sloppy Joes are good. Brown 1 lb. hamburger and 1 small, chopped onion with a little garlic. Drain. Add 1 can tomato sauce, 1/4 cup sugar, 1/2 cup ketchup and heat and mix. Serve over toasted hamburger buns or white bread.

Mmmm, cabbage, burger, & onion.... a friend of mine makes a German casserole with those ingredients... it's delish. Burger in spaghetti sauce or lasagne is good, too.

I make a cheeseburger casserole that my family just loves. It is very easy, kind of reminds one of shepherds pie. Brown the hamburger in a large skillet, season with garlic, pepper, seasoning salt, and whatever other flavors your family likes. You can also add onion to the hamburger if your family likes onions. Drain it, then add ketchup, I am guessing about 1/2 to 3/4 cup. Add one can of drained corn, one can of drained green beans. Add 1/2 c. shredded cheese. Mix and let cheese melt all the way. Put into a large baking dish. Top with mashed potatoes. Then top the mashed potatoes with more grated cheese. Bake in the oven at 350 until cheese on top is melted and mixture below is bubbling. Then serve. Hope this helps. A great recipe site for easy meals too is http://www.allrecipes.com I hope you enjoy the recipe, let me know, please

that almost sounds like the casserole I make sometimes. I brown down the hamburger and onions, drain, put in dish with a acouple cans of drained sweet corn and condensed tomato soup. mix well and then put a layer of mashed potatoes on top, then sprinkle with shredded cheese and bake for about 15 minutes, comes out great every time!

I'm good at this.... Fastest is to nuke on high - removing the thawed "layers" before they cook. Takes just a few minutes, but watch it - you will end up with pasta! You can also just put the chunck in the pan and and scrape the cooked part off as it heats though out. I get impatient this way though. And then you could do it the old fashioned way - through a frozen lb. in the sink before you leave the house :)

Oooh let's see! I like making chili the best - you can use leftovers for tacos and for chili fries or wraps. I use green onion in chili, and that makes a huge difference I think! Also, if you have kids, avoid the kidney beans and go for adding cans of pork and beans (or whatever and beans) - they're soft and you don't notice them. You can put ground beef as a topping on pizzas (under the cheese is better though if you're going to cook the pizza after applying; otherwise it dries). You can use it as a topping on nachos. For wraps and tacos, I usually add extra old cheese, a bit of lettuce, and some fresh chopped green onion with a bit of sour cream (but you can basically add anything!)

Are we talking about those pre-made deep frozen hamburgers that really have nothing to do with meat? The best use for those are giving them to your dog... No that's just cruel... Throw them out instead.

you could maybe do a stirfry...i dunno if you have a wok, but im sure a pan would work. fry up some veggies..then throw in the ground up meat and rice and mix it all up...pretty easy but a nice meal in my opinion. i also like the pasta idea. mix the meat with some veggies...put it over some pasta, then pour a bit of natural yogurt on it, and top it off with some hot sauce. those are the quick, easy meals of a student :P

Yes, if you want it to be good longer than 2-3 days. Meat doesn't keep in the refrigerator longer than that. It needs to be frozen.

meatloaf - meatloaf
I found a recipe one time called frozen meatloaf, where the idea was to use a frozen chunk of ground beef and end up with an edible meat loaf. Sort of like a last minute decision as to what's for dinner. Simply pour 1 can cream of mushroom or cream of chicken over top of frozen meat, add 2 Tbls. worchesire sauce, 1 packet dry onion soup mix and bake in the oven at 325F for 2 hours OR put in crockpot on high for the day.

Tacos! Even with frozen hamburger you can still get it to fry up and since for tacos you need it fried & crumbled, it's perfect.

Have you ever made Hamburger pie? You get hamburger meat, totatoes, onions and once the meat is cooked, you put in the other ingredients. Its pretty good over noodles, nice, or mashed potatoes.
