Seriously I saw these at work http://www.amazon.com/Rachael-Ray-Garbage-Bowl-Quartz/dp/B000VQDGIQ who in their right mind would spend abt $20 on a special plastic bowl for their kitchen scraps? And it doesn't even have a lid! Some how I think there's a genious at some marketing company some where telling Rachel Ray to use/push such silly products. Yeah I have a "Garbage Bowl" it's usually a bowl I haven't washed in the sink or a coffee can with a lid on it so I can take it out to my compost when it's full. Anyone else think this product is silly?

Sure it's silly but then there are a lot of ppl that blow their money on silly things simply for name value or b/c they want a "specific" item. Personally, I do like you and just use an empty butter bowl or the box from another product. **AT PEACE WITHIN** ~~STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS~~

Don't get me wrong, I like Rachel Ray along with several other chefs but I wouldn't buy a specific item just for their name on it. I guess that's more for ppl that have money to burn. **AT PEACE WITHIN** ~~STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS~~

Exactly and my kitchen isn't a showplace either so I guarantee my kids or hubby will not carry about like "ooooh is that a Rachel Ray.....?" I don't think they'd be impressed. The kitchen-aid yes, Rachel Ray rubbish bowl.. NO.

Those are great! You can rinse those out unlike the "tin" ones wich get yucky. My compost drum will take scraps no matter what they were kept in til I got outside.

Or do like I do and use an old coffee can w/ lid til it gets way yucky and then pitch it for the next coffee can.

Funny I can't imagine buying a special bowl for garbage. I would just use an old cool whip container or something like that. But you know some people will buy this product just because Rachael Ray uses it.

I guess the people that buy these are keeping the economy going. I have to watch my money closer than that, buying unnecessary products.

Yes, Silly and ugly too. I saw this a while back and my immediate thought was how ugly it was. I apologize for saying this but it kind of looks like vomit to me. I do like the idea of a garbage bowl especially if you are cutting up a lot of veggies, but that can be any bowl you have, you don't need to go out and buy one for that purpose. People will buy it though because of Rachael Ray though. I think maybe if they made it prettier you could at least say you bought because it was pretty, but I would not spend good money on this bowl.

Exactly many times I use an old bowl that's in the sink that needs to be washed and just pitch my scraps in there and take it outside later.

Every time I see her cooking show I think the same thing. She always says to have a garbage bowl close by when you are cooking. Why not just use the trash can? Our trashcan is under the sink in the kitchen so when I cook I just keep the cabinet open with the trash can so that I can just throw away the garbage as needed. Why anyone would spend money for one of those garbage bowls is beyond me. I guess it's for people who have nothing else better to spend their money on.

I have plenty of other things to spend my money on. Maybe they have it on the counter so she's not looking down at anyone point as when you toss stuff in a garbage can you kinda look down to see that it landed in the right spot KWIM?

OMG I so agree! I do enjoy her show most of the time, but....you will not be seeing me use a garbage bowl. Definitely will not see me BUYING a special bowl just for that. A garbage bowl is good for TV though. It saves her time by tossing everything in that bowl, I get that. But to sell one for people during this economy? Crazy I tell you, crazy. I'm going to come up with a special spoon that you only use for spaghetti sauce, what do you think?

I think it'll be a hit if you put Rachel Ray or Martha Stewart name on it!
