My neighbor had lasik eye surgery a year ago. Everything went great and she hasn't had any problems. Sometimes you hear of people having difficulties from this type of surgery. My husband wants me to get lasik eye surgery but I'm afraid of what could go wrong from it. Have you had lasik eye surgery or know of anyone who has? How did it go?

Hi Shar19. Did you go thru with your LASIk. I had lasik surgery three months ago and I am loving living the life without contacts or glasses. A good eye doctor would evaluate you first and tell you what options are available for you, depending on your eye characteristics, like the thickness of your cornea, your age, etc

I knew one person who had it and it went very well. He had no problems and his vision was 20/20 afterward.
You're going to hear about those that did not go so well all over the internet. People with complains tend to vent their anger on the internet. Those whose surgery went well, you just don't hear about as often, because they're happy.
Any surgery has risks. You have to weigh the risks against the benefits. Ask for statistics from some eye surgeons. Find out what their success rate is. Go to the medical board if you have to in order to get honest statistics. Go to the Better Business Bureau to see if there are any complains against a certain doctor and, if so, how many. You'd want the best surgeon to operate on your brain or any other organ, wouldn't you? Do all the research you can on this before jumping into it.
I'd LOVE to never have to wear glasses again but, sadly, my eye problem (at least my near vision) is age-related and they can't fix that with surgery so I'm stuck with glasses. I'd rather wear glasses, though, than wear contacts.

My mother-in-law had lasik eye surgery before she passed away. she was in her 80's. It did not go well for her. I do not think she had the ability to take proper care of it after her surgery though. She lost her eye sight in it. My mom had it done though and it went very well and she took care of it and it corrected her vision.

i've considered it..but it's not as reliable to make it worth the risk to me yet.
i've heard of some people's vision becoming worse.
i guess it depends on the doctor and your original eye problem though.
stigmatism is supposed to be "simple"

I am very interested in doing lasik surgery. Currently I wear minus 8 glasses, and really worried if it become larger in the future, my eyes cannot be treated. So far, I only hear positive testimonials from my friends and relatives who been through the procedure, though I heard also a few negative testimonials from internet. I want to do it now, but since it is so expensive, about USD 1800 in my country, I'm thinking to do it when I am 25, which is 3 years later...How much is it in your country, I want to know it also. I heard in Thailand or Philippines, which near my country, it only cost USD 1200, pretty cheap..
