problems with cdrom

Hiii friends i have a problem with my cdrom
when i place a cd/dvd in the cd rom iam able to see the files but iam not able to run them or open the applications
For example if i keep a game cd iam not able to run the setup or not able to open any worddocument in that
if i place an mp3 cd i can see the songs but i cant play them plz help me in this matter.........

If it was a lens problem you wouldn't see anything. Can you copy files from there? if not with Copy paste try with nero. If you copy with nero so It's OS problem. try and let me know

Yeah, So it's problem of your System not your CD-rom. It can be some bugs in registry. Try registry cleaners, if it not helps, try reinstalling OS.

ya i think its the os problem because i have been getting some problems when booting the system atfirst i thought it might be some virus but the scanning comes out clean now i have a problem with my cdrom

Iam able to copy the files from the cd to my system with copy/paste znd access them from my system
but iam unable to access them from the cdrom........

i think its not the cd problem because the problem is almost with all every cd/dvd i put
may be the lens got dusted i need to clean it once

If all your cds and dvds are having the same problem then it is probably because of dust on the lens. Try using a lens cleaner and the problem will fix itself.If it still does not work (it happened to me once) then your lens is probably damaged and you have to repair it.Well in that case you might opt to buy a new rom because when I went to repair mine they said the price of a new lens is almost equal to that of a new cd rom. Lets all hope your rom gets fixed quickly.
