Interview clothing

Do you think people actually take time nowdays to worry about how they look putting in applications and the actual interview? I know growing up and while I was in college they addressed this very issue several times and I guess that is why I think it is basic knowledge that there are several things that are a no go for interview clothing, like jeans, sandals, shorts, etc. Basically anything too revealing, even if it does make you look cute. And I know today people are more relaxed in the work environments but I also know that some people look at that as an indication of how a person presents themsleves. And I also was always told that sometimes while filling out applications youmay be interviewed on spot, so dress as if you are interviewing and when in doubt dress more conservatively. So do these rules still apply nowdays in your opinion? I know from experience once I applied for a front desk position at a hotel, while in college for a summer job, I wore sandals with a nice dress. Well, it wasn't the dress but the shoes the interviewer was questioning I could tell by her eyes. She referred me to the housekeeping department. LOL

I always wear my blue suit when interviewing, I know that some people don't think about their appearance but they should. Once they get the job they can dress how they want but for an interview a first impression is lasting. I've interviewed in shorts before but its because I had worked there before and I was just dropping by to see if they needed anybody, they did and I wore shorts everyday after that.

the clothing does matter here in my city.when my classmates went to have the interview, they always dressed formally, sometimes even with tie.maybe this can reveal that the interviewer respect this job and the interviewee in the basic level.

It really depends on the job you're interviewing for. If it's an office environment, then of course, dress professionally. If you're interviewing to flip burgers, dress smart-casual - there's no need to dress in a suit, correct? Just don't stroll in to the interview in jeans, a skimpy shirt and flip-flops...

Yes, for a job interview, you should wear clothing that is neat. While at work later on (if received), do not wear clothing that is neat. It seems that this applies in all places. I do not know, why should so. Ideally, if the overall current use of sandals, shorts and T-shirt, it does not matter if applicants wear like that.

It all depends on the type of job that you're applying for. Some employers prefer employees to dress casually to reflect on the company's attitude; most would prefer very formal attire which promotes professionalism in the work place. So, if you wear casual T-shirt and jeans when you walk into an interview for a position in the government department, rest assured you won't pass the interview. The interviewer might even scorn at the way you dress. That's what will happen in my country. So, to answer your question, yes. Some people do take the trouble to look presentable so that they'll score more points and hopefully secure that dream job. Others, well...no.
