What food is frequently on your plate? My current food fad is squash. I haven't been able to get enough for several months. I ate squash for dinner tonight, and I'm sure I'll have squash tomorrow night. I'm obssessed with this vegetable at the moment. I guess if I'm going to be obssessed with a food, it's at least a healthy one. And your food must at the moment is...?

I've been going through a summer squash (yellow) and zucchini squash (green) phase too. Tonight I sauted some onions, peppers and garlic, then added squash, tomatoes and oregano - and then served it in grinder rolls. What is your favorite recipe? A friends used to make an awesome chocolate zucchini bread, but she would never give the recipe out...bummer.

Have you ever had zuchini cake? My Aunt Melba made it for me a couple of years ago, but I forgot to ask for the recipe.

I have a recipe for zucchini cake that uses a pudding-included cake mix as an ingredient. The recipe I have is for a chocolate one, but I'm sure you can use any flavor of cake mix. Using zucchini in baking is very similar to using bananas...in fact zucchini bread tastes a lot like banana bread. I've have fairly good success substituting one for the other in recipes, using equal amounts of grated zucchini and/or bananas. I also have a killer recipe for a dilly-zucchini casserole. Let me know if either sounds interesting...and I'll make ya come over and copy them down...lol.

In recent days its been rice on my plate. I had wild rice as part of dinner a few days back, then steamed rice as a side days later, and a couple of days back creole rice (had shrimp, chicken and sausage).

Ramen noodles. Isn't this odd? never had them before but bought a dozen packets to make some cheap meals as i will be on my own and need to save some money. I went on line and down;loaded many different recipes and now i AM COOKING THEM IN DIFFERENT WAYS AND ENJOYING THEM TOO. AND GUESS WHAT? IT IS SO CHEAP! That is she bonus of living alone as I can exist quite cheaply on inexpensive food. I add vegetables and chicken and do so much with a pack - it is fun to cook it so quickly in different ways too. Mind you - I do not know how long this obsession will last

I too love squash but only fruit squash. I don't like vegeatbles like carrots in it, just pure fruit squash, especially orange squash. I just love the natural fruit taste without any added colorings or preservatives. I think the latter are resposible for many illnesses such as cancer.

There aren't any added color or preservative added to yellow squash. If there were, that would freak me out! Fruit squash? Can you tell me about that? I've never heard of it.

Veggies of all kinds. I need to go get squash, I like both summer and winter ones. I keep bags of frozen veggies and will eat as much as I can at lunch to make me more full on less calories. I have a kitchen full of fresh tomatoes that have never been in a refrigerator. Yum.

My Nana lives in Bixby. And a little ways from her they have this stand, too small to be called a Farmer's Market. But they sell tomatoes, squash, peaches, zuchini, and onions. My mom goes down there and stocks up on their tomatoes and peaches. I have just never tasted tomatoes and peaches better than the ones sold there.

That is so funny, I'm obsessed with the same thing right now! My neighbor has been giving me some so I've been making it a lot. My whole family loves it. We were going to try to plant our own this year but we didn't end up getting a garden started in time. Hopefully next year though so we can have tons of it. My next obsession will be corn on the cob. My grandparents in law plant a whole field of it for all their kids and we go pick it when it is ready.

I've got a good garden this year, and I've got so much squash and tomatoes. I like a lot of variety, so I looked up some recipes from the food network for zucchini, and I've been making it a different way almost every day. One new favorite find is for saltimbocca of zucchini. It was so good I had to make it twice in a row. My husband's favorite is toast and tomato sandwiches, something I'd never heard of until I met him. I never used to like them that much, but I do now. I like them with mayonnaise and leaf lettuce, made with toast like a blt. I've been saving a lot of money eating out of the garden, and it's so much better than store bought food. The tomatoes smell unbelievably good.

hi ambiepam tomatoes, I just love fresh tomatoes and freshstrawberries and cherries. here at the retirement center I think they have forgottenthose foods exist. we get watermelon, and canteloupe but thats all. my cravings are healthy ones. last time i was out to a 99 cent store i bought a carton of roma tomatoes and a sack of nectarines, and did I have a ball.places like gold crest tend to pinch pennies but I can buy fresh fruit and keep it in my room for awhile so nuts to them.

Fresh tomatoes are a weakness of mine. I'm pretty sure I'd eat them as snacks if I had them all the time. So they don't buy things like tomatoes? I'm probably being naive and stupid for asking, but if you and a bunch of other residents asked, would they start serving them?

mine is not so healthy im stuck on a junk thing right now, its salt and vinegar chips dipped in sour cream and i figure its awful fattening. i do like squash tho and i can see why you like it so much. i used to eat it a lot when my friend had raised a lot and gave us some.

I like squash as well but with coconut cream and string beans plush shrimps or pork. Will be eaten with rice of course. Though others grate the squash or mash it in a boiling coconut cream add sugar and egg when done wrap in banana leaves and cook again, then serve as snacks. I always crave for chicken macaroni salad and it's the food I wanted at the moment. For birthdays and other special occassions, chicken macaroni salad is my special recipe.

We aren't that inventive in America. I don't think we would think to try coconut cream and sugar, and all that good stuff. Of course we don't really have banana leaves around, but that sounds like something I'd like to try!

One of my foods lately on my plate is Noodles in some form. I have been on a Big noodle or salad kick and probably eat these 4 times a week. When it comes to Squash, I do not mind squash, but my husband is not fond of it so I usually have to have forms of squash in a restaurant somewhere. But one of my favorite ways to enjoy it is Fried Zuchinni, and could eat this one all of the time if I could.

Well since its still the summer and we've been having our "heat" wave, I've been eating a lot of "rabbit" food..LOL....making a lot of salads with lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers...not only do I have them as a dinner (along with homemade potato and macaroni salads) but nibble on it all night long---I like the fact that what I'm eating is healthier too

Well what kind of squash? There are so many varieties! I'm currently in love with vidalia onions. I can eat them raw, or grill them, or fry them.. I really can't think of THAT many ways to cook them but they're just so delicious.
