I usually read books or magazines before going to bed. I started reading before going to bed because one of my friend told me that it was a good means to get sleep easily as i suffered from Insomnia. What about you do you read before bed/ ..And why do you read?.........Is it for pleasure or to gets sleep easily?

I enjoy reading books before I go to bed. It helps me relax and calm my body down before I fall asleep. I normally read for about an hour or two before I finally get ready for sleep. I do all my pre-bedtime stuff and get into my pajamas then snuggle in bed with my cat and book and just read while he purrs beside me while my boyfriend plays video games on his computer. It's the perfect end to the day.

Hi velentina!
I read some magazines or books if I do not have anything to do. Or, if I cannot sleep. Or if I do not want to sleep. It helps me relax and unwind especially when listening to some good music. It feels good to somehow exercise the brain even before sleeping.

I have to read before falling asleep as well. It seems to get my mind off my own life and think about someone else's for a change! LOL That's why I like nice, fluffy fiction - nothing that will make my mind work, just an easy story. I've always loved to read though. I just with I had time to read other than when it's time for bed!

I seldom read books or magazines before I sleep. most often, i am just too tired. So all i do is to lie on the bed and... count sheeps. :-)

On rare occasions I read a magazine, but usually if I read in bed it will be a book. I don't know why, but for some reason I find magazines tedious.

Hi velentina, I too love to read at least a few pages before going to bed. I generally make it a point to carry a book with me all the time, so that I can read whenever and wherever I find the time to do so.I read at bedtime because it relaxes me and I am able to put all the stress and tensions of the day behind me. Once I spent the entire night reading an interesting book...

to me, lol...it's for knowledge most of the time. if for falling asleep easily, i guess i'll choose to listen to some light musics.
i have the habit of reading in the early morning, and before going to bed. after all, i need to work in the daytime, while i like reading, so i must arrange some time for it. so i choose that.

Yes I read all the time but especially before going to bed. That's the time that's "my time". I have insomnia too and have for years so I really don't think that the reading helps with that.... especially if the book is good. I read for pleasure and relaxation both. Sometimes I think that is my escape from the world when things are really stressful.

Just before bed each night, and right when I wake up each morning. I read 8-10 pages of a positive thinking book. Currently "The Monk Who Sold His Ferrari" and next I will be reading "The Secret" Doesn't help me sleep, I do it to program my mind into a better state. To sleep on self development, and help focus my thoughts to improve my life.
Cheers.

I always wrap something to read before going to bed.
It makes me fall asleep easier.
If there is no interestig book, a romantic movie is perfect for me at night.

I have got so used to reading before I go to sleep, I just have to read at least a page or two before I can settle down to sleep. Of course I love reading, and the thought of reading something enjoyable makes me look forward to that last task of the day with much anticipation. That's the time I really wind down for the day, and no matter how tired I am, or how late it is, I must read until I feel that delicious feeling of drowsiness overcome me, and my eyelids start to droop. Then I close the book and drift off without any problem.
I definitely read for pleasure, but it sure helps me to sleep well too.

I used to try and read a positive book every night before I went to bed and then I had my last son who has made it almost impossible to do anything before I go to bed because he never does.
I say positive because it is so important to get something good in your mind before you sleep. So many people read or watch the news then go to bed with these horrible images of things happening and then sleeping on these thoughts for 5 or so hours. I would rather put something good into my mind and then feel better in the morning because what you constantly put into your head is what you end up being or feeling like later on.
