Do you prefer to clap your hands or whistle when you watch the concerts?

Well, I can't whistle, so I prefer to clap In classical music concerts, it's not ethic to whiste, while clapping acceptable in any concerts.. Maybe if I can whistle, I will do it in a crowded concert or if everyone whistel. or maybe if I can enjoy the song more with whistling

At all the concerts I've been to, I can't HEAR myself whistle (not that I cna do it, anyway, lol - I can't whistle. DOn't know how!) so I obviously prefer to clap. You can really get into the rhythm that way, and it's exciting when a lot of people really get into it and the whole crowd is clapping. I like doing that better.

I would say that I clap more often than I whistle. I used to whistle when I was a teenager at rock concerts. But now the concerts I see are children's concerts where it isn't appropriate to whistle. Though I whistle at home every day and I like to whistle. It keeps my lips busy as I am an ex smoker and it helps me not wanting to smoke. But mostly clapping is what I do at a concert.

For indoor concerts, clapping hands is a polite way of expressing appreciation. But for people not familiar with the music, we have to be very careful when to clap. Whistling is scarcely accepted in our culture.

I prefer to clap my hands which I so often do because my father does not like me when I whistle so I never do it when I am watching a concert and even he is not with me I never want to do it either, maybe the last time I whistle was in the bathroom.

I'd always prefer clapping hands because I don't know how to whistle!

I always clap and move with the music while singing along. It bugs me when people just stare and dont interact, lol. Where is the fun in that? Most artists want their fans to join in and sing and have fun...we are not watching an opera guys! :D I want to sing and I cant sing and whistle at the same time...plus I really stink at whistling anyway. I try to avoid that whenever possible. lol

Hello all. If the music is not too loud I like clapping and whistling at the same time - a slow clap and whistle. I use the three noted purse lipped variety which is audible but not as obtrusive as the raucous fingered variety.
There's nothing new or weird about this combination - it's heard at concerts and sports events and forms an integral part of many folk dances all over the world. If anyone else here claps in rhythm and whistles at the same time like I do please let me know.
