hey friend, i do clean my mouse pad regularly, it is really important to do, but i have to say it was a lot more important to clean the mouse pad back then when they only had the roller mouse... the optical mouse really acts funny when there is dust on the mouse pad, the receiving end of the optical sensor begins to react in a funny way and so sometimes your pointer moves when you aren't even moving your mouse, it is pretty funny to see that happening though

i have had that problem before. It happened multiple of times. It was starting to get annoying. One time it stop responding to every movement. I felt to smash the computer. I bought a laser mouse instead. It survived about 5 months before my baby brother and sister (twins) played with the cord until it burst. So now i am back to my original mouse with the ball.

I clean out my mice frequently to keep them tracking well. I also take apart the cover of my computer to dust out my PC to keep it functioning well too. I live in the high desert of Arizona so there is plenty of gunk to clean out. A clean mouse can last ten years. What I don't know how to do is clean off my mouse pad.

Hello friend. I use a laptop with a little red cap as its mouse. I never take it off when I clean off foreign object from the laptop. But I think that it is a good idea of yours to take it off if it is a desktop one. Take care.

I am glad that my days of cleaning the ball type mice are over. I use an optical mouse that runs even on shiny surfaces, so that I don't use a mouse pad anymore and that I don't have to take it apart to clean it. I just have to wipe it's bottom part from time to time to clean it.

I do clean my mouse back when I was using a mouse that has a trackball since I can take the parts away. But now, I am using an optical mouse and just need to clean the exterior part of it.

I have to clean my mouse out atleast once a week. It gets to the place where the ball will not roll and it gets stuck. It would be surprised how much dirt and dust gets around those little wheels in the inside when you spend 8 hours a day on the computer.

We certainly are a rare breed of men my friend. Just recently I responded to a discussion where I'm the only soul that still uses one. It is by choice right? I believe you use mac and it has other mice. When our mouse wander and moves with the mind of its own that's the time it need our ever tender loving care.)
