Dear friends I started a discussion on "Aliens tampering with our DNA"... and someone replied with the following in their response: ".......I will not be forced to bow to their allah of mecca, they are the enemy and we are the sheeple.....and we are about to be fleeced......." Now I am not a muslim, but still think this statement crosses the line and it is offensive to so many in these delicate times. Mylot does not make it clear 'what' exactly is abuse...but I did report it so that it would be deleted....but it's been a few days now and it's still there...and bugging me. I haven't responded to him as I don't think it's worth it, I can tell from his tone, he'll only get more abusive and I don't want to entertain it. But anyway, it maybe that a few people need to report this, so if you feel that these are unacceptable words and shouldn't be used, kindly help and report it please. Angelie

Hello Angelie! :) My friend I went back to your original discussion on the "Aliens tampering with our DNA" and read the response you are claiming to be abusive and that needs to be reported. I think you need to go back and read the entire response of this person. Looks to me that you only focused on one sentence out of an entire discussion. He is just stating his opinion and feelings on what is going on here in the U.S...you should not take it personal. Everybody is entitle to their own opinion. That's why I love MyLot. Everybody is respecting everybody elses opinions and eachother. :) So, in my opinion, nobody needs to be reported in this case for just stating their own opinion, about their own country. :) If we all reported everybody we don't agree with then MyLot will never exist anymore. Have an awesome weekend Angelie and happy mylotting! :) Olivia~

Thanks for writing. I haven't taken anything personal at all....believe me....I am not a muslim. I have read the post about 50 times. I'm totally in for people expressing their opinions, but I am a firm believer that people should express opinions with sensitivity and not target a specific religion being the enemy.....such words do NOT hurt me.....but they will be offensive to many muslims on this site as it is racially discrimanting against a creed, and I was under the impression that racial discrimination is not 'on'... Anyway it seems that people from different parts of the world react differently to it. I actually enjoyed his post.....found it amusing.....except for those three words, which in my opinion do cross the line. Christians are the enemy or Jews are the enemy, or Muslims are the enemy...fuels racial tension and hatred, which we already have enough of.....just imagine any Muslim that read that, it's just another brick in the wall for them, just another reason for them to be prejudice against America etc I just want people of diverse cultures to get together for a chnage and sort out their differences in a mature and civil manner....because I believe that real power will come when the people of this world unite. There are many right wing, extreme fundamental forums, which would be ok to say such a thing, but I don't feel it's correct to say such a thing on a mature forum such as Mylot. I don't know perhaps I'm just from a different planet............sorrrryyyy Take care.

Hi there darling!..gigiles... No...I know you didn't say that I was a muslim.....bit of a crosswire there.....I just said that 'I wasn't one'....to clarify that I haven't taken it personally...lol Anyway, I really do appreciate you coming in on here, and I totally understand what you mean.....about religion and politics......it's always the same ....but you know I do know some people whom I can talk about these things to and there are many forums where people do talk about them.......from all types of backgrounds........it can be done.......??????.....lol.....anyway nice meeting you Princess!!! Hope to bump into you again.......Angelie

I never said you were Muslim. There is absolutely nothing wrong with Muslims. There are good and bad people in every country, race, color and religion. I don't like to judge anybody. Looks like this discussion is really bothering you, so I suggest you go back and give it a negative rating. I would not even dwell on this, it's not worth it, my friend. And I do agree with you not commenting on it because it may not do anybody any good. It will probably get worse because looks like he is very strong in what he is stating. I am still new at this site but I know just from my every day living that the 2 topics I never like to discuss is politics and religion. Even with friends. Everybody has their own believes and most of the time, no matter what you do or say, you can't change people. God can even change people and He left us to make our own choices in life. My Angelie, you have nothing to be sorry for and NO you are not from a different planet...LOL...now you are just being silly. :) Take care and happy mylotting! :) Olivia~

I read the discussion and the responses. I have the feeling that the person tends to follow his (based on the profile) emotions rather than rational thinking. His first comment was based on aliens as in immigrants. He seems to have a strong dislike of Muslims. The statement sounds like a mild flame or a bait. I think most Muslims do not feel offended, because extremists can be found everywhere. Commenting directly to a person like that can worsen the situation. I am not reporting it as being abusive. If the response stays it gives the opportunity to others to see how people think and react to certain keywords.

I went and took a quick look at the thread. Not sure on this one. It is a rant, a tangential rant and kinda a silly one at that, but I don't know that it would qualify as "abuse". I'd just ignore the post, don't give it any credit by responding to it, to do so would only it further, it could erupt in to a flame war and then the whole thread would likely get deleted.

Yes thank you for your advice, I will do that.....I think it was just categorising the Muslims as an enemy.........that many could be offended by.

I don't know the whole story but from what I've heard from you, yes it does cross the line. I simply hate such religious statements. I don't know why they bring this into even mylot!

yes sometimes people cross the line and do such kind of activities. I do not personally feel that any religion is good or bad. All the relegions teach us about the way to reach god. If studied deeply they all have common basic goals. All religions aim for the spiritual development of human beings. But it is we humans who have modified the religions according to our needs. We feel that our own religion is good and all others are bad, but this is not so. Perhaps if instead of hating other religions if we try to look for good points then such kind of issues will not come. Also I guess then the world will be a lot better place to live.

What that person said had nothing to do with the discussion you started and is, in fact, OFFENSIVE. Not to mention idiotic and ignorant. Thanks for reporting it! ~K~

Hi there sritrinity, I went back and read the response that you refer to and no...I don't think it is abusive at all. He is just expressing his very strong feelings regarding the matter which he has a right to do. I didn't see any name calling or threatening or anything which would constitute abuse. He was just strongly disagreeing with you.

In my eyes I think its just how they decided to express their opinions. Its an metaphor perhaps or maybe its exactly how they feel but what is he saying... he refuses to bow down to a god and he thinks they are the enemy. Simple opinion nothing to be offended over. Its just like if I've said in the past that religion is the root of all of your enemies and that is what is going to kill us. Its a simple opinion - yes they are talking about a certain religion still doesn't matter in my mind.

It does cross the line. Of course expressing your opinion is fine as long as you are moderate with the choice of words. Thanks for the heads up.

Yes where I come from (UK) that would be classed as Racial abuse.... Expressing one's opinions are great, but there should be a degree of sensitivity. What did you mean by 'the heads up'????? Angelie

Hey, i couldn't see that discussion sritrinity, i surely like to reply on that discussion. if it's a rant then probably he thinks Allah is an alien, which i must say he had misunderstand that Religion, i don't know. but i don't think it's an abuse either.just don't comment on it.
