What goes on inside a baby's mind

Although it looks like that the babies pass their full time eating, sleeping and spoiling diapers. But according to a recent study there is a lot more going on inside a baby's mind. Early childhood is a period of intellectual, moral and emotional development. Babies have to learn and understand all the things that we adults just take as granted. For a baby all the things they see are new, and they have to understand all of them. It is like keeping an adult in a total alien world where nothing matches the things on earth. I think most of us will go mad in such a scenario. This is how little babies feel.
The babies take in much more information from different sources than the adults. They actually work very hard to make sense of that information. That's whay they sleep so much.
What do you people think regarding this? Do you beleive that a baby's thinking power is better than an adult? Or are they just silly creatures spoiling diapers every time:)

Babies take in a lot of information! Trust me. I have a little brother, and whenever I would accidentally throw out cuss words or do something that is really bad like drinking from the milk carton (hehe), etc. He would remember that and either copy me, or just inform my parents. My baby brother is pretty smart for a 3 year old and does bad stuff now. I always have to remember to be a good role model in front of him so he wouldn't turn up like me (the bad side of me) (=

So you are teaching your little brother some bad things already. Good keep it up. I learned many things from my elder brother. But good you want to make him good. Yes little kids try to do things as they see them happening around them so if they see good things around them then they will turn out to be good human beings. I think by nature most of the kids are noble and helpful. Try dropping your pen on the ground. Most of the little kids will come and pick and give it back to you even when they are on the other side of the room.

Hello vickie,
A very nice thought indeed.
They say the baby while in the mother's womb
can feel everything. Elders advise a pregnant mother
to avoid tension. It is said that the baby
abosrbes whatever it feels or hears,
the mother is advised to hear good music.
Not to hear anything violent and so on.
Hence a baby before coming out into this world
seems to be very active in making him/herself fit
to survive
Happy mylotting

Yes I also heard that unborn babies start feeling everything and I think it is true. Even the unborn babies have life so they will obviously feel everything that is around them. Yes good suggestion you gave that mothers should avoid somethings when they are pregnant for the sake of their children. Otherwise it can effect the health of children.

Babies are able to make mom aware that they need feeding, changing or given attention. I think there is a lot of thought going on as the baby sees the world he or she lives in and tries to make sense of it. Babies dream when they sleep and they have features from all the things they have been learning about. A baby learns communication beginning with crying and absorbs the language heard at home. He or she will learn to speak that language. The baby does far more learning than an adult I think. It is lovely to have ideas about what a baby is thinking. I have a seven week old baby girl and a twenty six month old son.

yes babies are actually more intelligent than we think. They can express them in actions and sounds as they can not speak. As everything is new for baby so I guess lot of information goes into a baby's mind everyday. They learn from all this information.
I think it will be pretty nice experience being with a baby as you are experiencing now with your seven weeks old baby.

babies are really lovely and i think they are more intelligent than we think. if only we adults can understand what is in their mind! i think babies' obversation ability is better than adults because everything is new to them and they observe almost everything in the same way we appreciate things for the first time.

Yes babies are more intelligent then we think. For a newborn baby everything is like an alien world. He has to fit everything somewhere according to his understanding. So I also feel their observation ability is better than what we adults have.

hey cindy, great to know that you were a baby before:) just kidding. But yes it is very interesting that we do not remember some of the things while we were babies. But we do remember some other things that we learnt as babies like the language we learnt, the behaviour etc. These things we learn as babies but we do not forget them. Strange how sometime things work.

yes only if they could talk they would be able to tell us all the things going on in their minds. But the issue is that by the time the kids learn how to talk properly they forget what they used to think when they were babies .

Babies entering the world for the first time are essentially a clean slate, g. They have neither a concept about life or any prejudices to begin with. They are totally dependent upon the nourishment and care they receive from their mothers, for the most part. This is why it is so important that they are exposed to things that are wholesome and good. As they develop they gradually learn to form thoughts under the guidance of whomever is taking care of them. The prevailing theory as to why little children have remarkable extrasensory perception is because they have not yet learned all of the negative things about what is acceptable and what is not. They are truly the pure in heart.

true a very good thought. Babies are indeed like a clean slate. They have no knowledge about the world around so whatever the environment they get around themselves they try to learn things according to that only. I think if we can keep our children in an healthy environment and keep them away from all the bad things happening around the world till we can, then I think this world will be a better place to live for coming generations as theie thinking will be better than us.

hi vickie I have watched my kids when they were babies
sleep. they smile, they giggle they even laugh.so
there must be some brain activity going on in
their little heads. some say they dream.I know that
they sense if someone really likes babies or doesnt
and they will cry if that person tries to pick them
up. they will smile when you amuse them, lAugh when
you lAugh so their little brains are indeed active.
I am no scientist but I am sure they are thinking.

Yes the kids have a thinking process which only they can understand. But they have all the ways to react to the situations. They cry when they do not like something, they laugh when they are happy. They can not speak but they are able to tell most of the times what they want with their actions and sounds.

Well don't remember much about being a baby accept for a few fuzzy memory's of being fed this awful tasting baby food, and I remember my parent's realizing that I didn't like the taste and switched jars lol, oh and I remember seeing the faces of my parents looking down at me, but as I said those memory's are really fuzzy.
But anyway. I do believe baby's think about different things because the world is so new to them, but by the time they reach a certain age they forget about most of those curious thoughts and memorys.

I do not remember anything from when I was a baby. But you remember a lot, the taste of your baby food, the changing of the jars, good. But see that time also you were thinking. You knew that time that your parents are changing the jars and you knew that they are changing the jars because they know that you are not linking the taste of the baby food. So babies think about most of the things they see around.

The brain development of the babies is really sophisticated. They have to figure out the soulds to meaningful words, and they learn to recognize people and relationship. Babies are lovely and smart, as well. Enjoy parenting, and mylotting.

Yes you are correct. They have to understand and learn all the things that are going around them. To manage all this information and then to make sense of it they need to put in lot of thinking.

Hello there, you got a interesting topic for discussion here. And I like your photo and caption. It's cute!!! When my 2 daughters were babies, I always wondered what is in their tiny brains. I do agree that babies have greater learning power than adults. Cos they picked up new things real fast. I definitely don't think that they are just silly babies soiling their diapers and only know how to drink, cry and sleep. They definitely got more brain power there. Cheers =))

Thanks for the comments regarding the photo and the caption. Yes babies have more learning capacity than the adults. So they actually learn much faster than the adults. And they can communicate their wishes by actions and sounds as they can not speak which we adults can not do.

Yes, I have heard of this, and I have read about it, and it is very interesting and just purely amazing. They say that a baby learns quicker than almost all adults, and their brains are just developing so fast, that's why their heads sometimes are too big for their bodies before they are one LOL, that's funny and cute at the same time. Havent you ever heard of the "teach your baby to read" thing? Its pretty amazing! Children at the age of 6 months and some even younger, are able to understand word cards and what they mean. Outrageous!

Yes interestingly most of the babies have their heads too big as compared to their bodies which is why they have much higher learnability as compared to their age. Also they have so many new things around them so basically they have much more information inflow into their minds because of which they learn quicker then adults.

I agree with you.I think babies are very smart. They can do a lot of things though they haven't enough strength. When I say simething that they're interested, they would small and look at me.I know they can understand me.I love the babies' small.
Have a good day.

Yes the babies can understand people. And also they can make the people understand them as well. They can communicate through crying, laughing and other sounds they can make. Interesting they are able to do this while we adults have forgotten it.

Hello Vickie. We talk about the infant baby. I think the idea of a baby no less favorable than that for adults. In our hometown there is a saying, before 3-year-old baby is nothing to knoe. Although the infant can not speak. But his ability to express strong. Because his language is crying. He did not cry uncomfortable. He will cry wet. He wanted to do, you can not meet him, and he is crying. Ha ha. And he looked at you with eyes to cry. So I said. In fact, all know what baby, what everything.

Yes as infants can not speak they have to use the language of signs and sounds. And they are good at that. They can make the parents aware of their needs by certain actions and sounds. So they are intelligent enough to take care of their needs.
