Do you leave voicemail when nobody answers the call?

People usually set their voicemail box so we can leave message for them vocally when it is transfered to the voicemail box. I personally don't liek to leave voicemail because I always feel my voice sounds stranger in record and I feel weird talking like nobody on the phone so most of the time I hang up or send a text if I have something to tell to the person. What about you? Do you feel awkward leaving a voicemail? Can you do it comfortably? Let's share your opinions :-)

Nope, I never leave voicemail messages. I just hang up the phone when I call someone I know and they have their answering machine on. Good thing answering machines and voicemail message services are very rare here. Im sure there are those places and people who utilize those services but for me, Id really rather not. I feel very awkward and uncomfortable using those. Its also a record of what I said, so anyone can take that and use it to what ever they have in mind.

Although it seems to be embarrassing to speak alone and then leave a voicemail, but I still do so. At least my call won't be in vain completely. At least the caller will know I have called him/her. And then he/she can reply to me later.
I love China

No never.
The person I called will see the number and, I hope, phone back when they are free to do so. I find voice mail very impersonal and would use any method to contact the person but never, ever would I leave a spoken message

I don't do it either unless it is the ONLY way I can contact the person or have something very urgent to tell.

Surely the person that you are calling would see the number and return the call?
Unless they were out of credit of course

I only call the people that I always call so they most likely will call me right back when they see the missed calls.

Hi mermaidivy! It depends on who I am calling and what I have
to tell them! If it is really important then I might leave
a message, if it isn't a cell phone! I don't pick up my
cell phone messages because it eats up my minutes and I let
my friends know that! I will see that they have called me
and call them back if it has something to do with meeting
them! If it is a home phone then I might leave a message!
I don't have a problem talking to voicemail, even though I
hate my voice!

Oh I would hate for my voice mails to count against my minutes!! I did not think that any phone companies did that anymore! I would not check my voice mails very often if that were the case for me. Especially since I use my cell phone for all of my calls. I rarely use my house phone.

Me too…I just feel so awkward talking to nobody in particular or to a machine. Even I think my voice sounds very unreal and weak when recorded, even I could not recognize my voice once after I had recorded it just for fun.

I always leave a message even if it's a short one. There are times I called my friend & said, "Hey, this is ***. Call me." They might be in a place where they don't get a signal, they might be busy at the moment or whatever the reason it may be, they can always listen to the message & get back to me.

Hi mermaid...Of course I leave a voicemail when no one answers. I know my voice sounds weird and deeper on the machine, but if I expect someone to get back to me I know I have to at least try to leave a message.

Most of the time I do not leave a voicemail. Once in awhile if I have tried someone and they have not got back to me then I will leave a voicemail and my voice does sound real different when I leave a message.

I will almost always leave a voice mail. I am a busy person and sometimes it is so much easier to know what a person is calling about before I speak to them so it doesn't have to be many different calls back and forth. It does depend upon who I call though, because if I leave my mother a voice mail it is almost guaranteed that she will call me back before ever listening to it! Ha!
I also think that sometimes it is easier to leave voice mails because some people are just impossible to get off the phone when you just need to tell them something quick. I also usually will not leave a message if I am just calling them to meet them somewhere, then I will just wait for them to call me back.

I always leave messages so the person will know what I am calling about. Also ... if I am calling someone at home and they have an answering machine but no caller ID (my grandmother) I always leave a message because then I get points for at least calling her even if she wasn't home. Smile!

I leave a voicemail if I really need to let them know something. If it is not important, I do not. I don't really feel comfortable doing it, I like to know that they did get the message.

Hi there!
I do not feel like leaving voice mail messages on answering machine or my cell phone. I think, if I'm unable to take any call due to any reason whatsoever, the caller should guess that I'm busy elsewhere. I do have caller ID on my land line phone and cell phones, as well, I can see the caller's number from the ID (provided the caller is known to me).

I do leave a voicemail if I need to leave an important/urgent message. Usually I do not bother because most of the time I will call someone up just to say hello. If they see a missed call from me then they can call me back whenever, but if it is really important then I will leave them a message so they are more likely to get back to me asap.
