Hello friends, I want to know some valuable tips from you to make my house look spacious and larger. My house is small but i have more furniture. I feel like i am in jail, it is too crowded. What should I include and what to leave out for this purpose.

Paint the walls in a bright color, preferably white. That certainly does a lot, since the darker colors tend to consume the light in the room and make it feel smaler. Also when you decorate the room with furniture, you shouldnt overdoo the wall with pictures and such, just a few pictures/paintings will do fine, stick to furniture that has a clean design, and maybe add a plant or two for the feeling of a fresh air and comfort.

I agree with you about the pictures. Too many close the wall in.

exactly and everything seems more tight and less spacious, so our fellow mylotter would almost ask for a "small home looking small", if there is to many extra things on the walls.

When you have a small space less is more. Keep your colors very light in the room. No dark walls that will make the room seem smaller. Light colors open up the spaces and make everything brighter. Only keep a few pieces of furniture. Also if you have too many knicknacks in a room then that will make the room look too busy and small. Go through each room and tidy up. Throw out all papers that are laying around. Keep a file stored away for montly bills and important papers that you need to keep. Remember less is more.

I think mirrors and bright colors like white can do some magic. Mirror create illusion and bright color can make the room look bigger. You can use less furniture. Try furniture that have more than one function. Like a desk that can serve as a book rack and such. That way you can have more empty space.

Something that I have noticed.... In bedrooms instead of using the bedframe/headboard/footboard, keep the bed setting closer to the floor.. the missing volume gives the illusion of space. Also, keep furniture against the walls.. No coffee tables floating out in the middle. Hope that helps you somewhat and good luck!

I have a two room apartment. It is also very small. The thing I did , was get everything off of the floor. I rearranged it so that I put everything on top of the closets. I also have a closet in the hallway. I neatly put things on top of it and covered it with a curtain. Like suitcases I don't use. Or old boxes with paper that are not to be thrown out. Things you normally don't need. I put it off the floor. Now I have more room. It looks a lot bigger and better. Hope this helps you too.
