Do you live in the country (rural area) or the big city?

Are you a country mouse or a city mouse? I spent most of my years in the big city, and just 7 years ago moved to a small acreage. We have some livestock, but still commute daily to the big city to work.

I'm a country mouse but the city seems to be creeping out to us. We have a small farm and keep cattle and chickens.

What an adorable baby!
Cattle are probably a bit harder to work with, mostly because they tend to try and kill you now and then. If you leave a calf on a cow, she gets extremely protective. That's usually a good thing, but not when you're getting chased through the pasture by a 1400 lb. animal. They also tend to kick you for no apparent reason sometimes, and that hurts like crazy. Oh yeah, and they tend to step on your feet fairly often, but I'm not sure if it's intentional or not.
I was badly injured in August by a 1000 lb. heifer. The vet and DH were roping her behind the barn so they could give her a shot. I walked around the corner at exactly the wrong time (they hadn't tightened the rope to the post yet) and met up with an angry heifer and about 20 feet of rope. The rope caught me and shot me through the air for about 10 feet until thankfully I got stopped by a tree and then landed face first in a cow patty with my mouth open. I dislocated my elbow and did something bad to my ribs (too scared to get an xray) so I couldn't bend over or sleep on my side for almost two months. It's all pretty funny now, but it sure wasn't then.
If this kind of stuff doesn't scare you much, cows are great animals to have. Ours are usually like big babies that just love any attention we can give them. You just have to be aware that they are considerably more dangerous, even if they are normally very gentle.

I love living in the country. It is just so much more serene and relaxing. When I lived in the U.S. my husband and I lived in the country and commuted to the city to work. Now we live in the city in Nicaragua, but it is kind of a suburb area and we have property in the country that we go to when we are longing for serenity.

I live in a valley in Cornwall in the south west of England. A quiet area but not true country. Big Towns? No way to live in, they are okay for short visits and that's it.
