Folder cannot be deleted

I think it's good if i ask some troubleshooting tips over here.
Well i have a folder in desktop named abc(this folder name can be changed).
It has a subfolder named Actress(this folder name cannot be changed and cannot be deleted as well).It has nothing in it.
I have tried everything to delete it through DOS, softwares.
Can u people suggest whats the problem or how can i delete it?

Just check the subfolder in detail view and if you see it has an .exe entension, then i am 100% sure its virus. Just scan your system and try to remove it. If your antivirus don't detects or removes it i guess you better try with another antivirus.

hi, is the attribute of your subfolder Read only? if it is Read only, you can't rewrite or del it. if it is written, you might shut down explorer.exe in Task Manager and go into DOS to take delete command, or else you take chkdsk command, chkdsk help you check your files and repair bad or error files automatically, there is another funny method that when you compress locked file with winrar, you set "source file is deleted after compressed", it might delete file successfully.
In case my all methods are invalid, i am sorry, i make more effort to think out how to delete locked file successfully.

Sorry, it is quite hard,long time ago i also have met a so troubling thing that a file with garbled code name in C:/, i use out all known methods except format disk, it is still obstinate! (laugh)

happened to me a week ago too
this folder comes with a program
I deleted the program and it worked. I tried to delete the folder but it deleted the content not the folder itself.
I did regular scan and virus check clean up etc
then I turned the pc off. when I turned it back on, it's gone.

Could be a rare data error. It happens. It may also be a sign of disk corruption software side, or the drive starting to fail in terms of hardware.
Did you link folder ABC to a program on your computer, or something like that? If you uninstall some programs or install them, this kind of folder mixup can happen. It's been years since I've seen it myself though.

Hello,
I have had many files and folders that could not be deleted. One thing I tried was to start up my computer in safe mode, and then try and delete. All of the times I tried it, it worked. Make sure you have a good day, Happy Lotting!!

sometime back it happened to me too, i too don't exactly know why that happens, sometimes it maybe because some other program is already using the folder or sometimes that is not the case... just try to boot your computer in safe mode and try to delete it, it mostly works that way... hope that solves your problem, have a nice day Abhii
