I'm a light sleeper. If it's thundering outside then I most likely will not be able to get to sleep. I'm too worried watching the lightning. Can you sleep through a thunderstorm?

I guess it's the steady noise that soothes you.

We had a thunderstorm last week. I remember clearly that night it was especially humid and hot. I got up four or five times to close the window, turn off power for electric appliances, check bed for my grandson, etc. It was difficult to go bad to sleep, so that I finished cleaning, which is done usually in the morning.

That sounds like a nasty storm you had. How long were you cleaning for?

I can't sleep through a thunderstorm either, I'm a light sleeper and it doesn't take much to wake me up. Last night we had a big storm come through with alot of lightening and thunder, it woke me up, I don't like all that lightening, its scary, I finally fell back to sleep.

Yes I can sleep through a thunderstorm. In fact, a thunderstorm to me is calming and helps me sleep better.

The older I get, the more soundly I sleep. Most of the time I can sleep through a thunder storm. I may hear the thunder but then I would just roll over and go back to sleep.I do not get upset or worried about the storm.

I'm also a light sleeper, but I'm likely to watch it for a while if it wakes me, I'm not worried about it

I find i wake up to the flash of light and my dog being terrified of it these days. I put her in bed with me and go back to sleep. I find the sounds and noises soothing...natural. I have a harder time sleeping in the city with the cars and the sirens and stuff than i do through a thunderstorm.

Most of the time she does - she just tucks real close against my feet and goes to sleep. sometimes as it thunders i can feel her shake. She usually leaves when the storm is over I think she thinks i move around too much.

It really does affect dogs more than us. Was your dog able to go to sleep once in your bed?

Thunderstorm, tornado, earthquake all natural disasters I can sleep anywhere and through anything except for the children coming in and touching me. I can even sleep through them yelling most of the time. I'm really a heavy sleeper.

I'm a light sleeper (alarms, telephone calls, flushes of the toilet - ANy little noise usually wakes me up) but for some reason thunderstorms and the sound of rain actually is soothing to me - and calms me down/makes me more likely to fall asleep. It's very weird - but true. I can sleep through a thunderstorm any day.

Funny that I just saw this discussion. It just started thundering here! It's very close because it is one after the other. We have been having a lot of thunderstorms lately. I can usually sleep throught them. Luckily, my daughter just fell asleep before it started. She gets really scared.

If it's not to close then I can sleep right through it, but if it's close I will get up.

hi shar!^^ yeah i can sleep during a thunderstorm. at first i would be bothered by the thunder and the lightning but the sleepiness would get me and make me fall asleep. ^^ but there was once a time when there was a storm and i woke up in the middle of the night because of the strong and noisy winds and the thunder. i couldn't get back to sleep then until the noisy winds and thunder got weaker and weaker.

I agree, the wind can be just as bad as the thunder.

sleep through a thunderstorm - When I feel very tired, I can sleep through thunderstorm. I think that it is very thrilling to sleep through such a night with thunderstorm
Hello Shar. When I feel very tired, I could sleep through thunderstorm. I think that it is very thrilling to sleep through such a night with thunderstorm. Even if I can not fall asleep through such a thunderstorm night, it is some kind of enjoyment to me, but not during the day when I have to go out somewhere. lol. Take care, friend.

I am a big fan of thunderstorms myself. I love the lightening and thunder crashing. I am not dumb, I don't go outside during them, but love to watch them and hear them from inside the house. They actually relax me! I have no idea why. I am also a light sleeper, but I don't sleep during thunderstorms because I love to listen to them.

Sometimes I can sleep through thunderstorms. They do usually wake me up but I can normally go bak to sleep. I usually sleep with a movie going all night anyway so some noise doesn't bother me too much.

maybe it depends. if the thunder is in the sky above the building i'm living in, even if i'm tired, maybe i cant sleep well. some night, i experienced it, and dared not to sleep for a long time in the evening. but if i'm very tired or not, and the thunder is not just above the building. it doesnt matter anything to me. friends will ask me why i can sleep so well.

I have insomnia and find it's easier for me to sleep during heavy rain or thunderstorm,, Maybe because the situation is dark and cold, so I will curled in my blanket, pray to God and send text message to my friend about that situation and feel comfortable after that.. I think with thunderstorm sound it's more comfortable to sleep, and sleep with imagination!
