Yes Shantha, I too remember this incident. I can empathise with you as I was also present in such a situation. I had just left a place of worship and some terrorists started bombing the place. It was so eery. But the interesting part is that I was a child and the noise excited me. I wanted to go investigate the source of the noise immediately. My parents were aghast and they had to heave a screaming kid till the railway station. Only when my mother promised to get me some chocolates I calmed down. Well, just imagine If I had succeeded in investigating the shootings! :) Operation Vijay was formed to weed out these terrorists who had taken refuge in the Golden Temple, Amritsar, India. For the 1st time, an Indian Prime Minister had given permission to the Army to enter a place of worship and root out the miscreants. This became a big issue in the country as the Sikh community thought it was a sacrilege. Well, later the PM (Indira Gandhi) was murdered for her decision. Rest is history.
