I think cellphone is a need nut is not a necessity unless you are staying away from your parents, or working in some business that wants you to use mobile. Mobile radiations are really very harmful. Care to be taken not to buy mobiles to children below some age group. For some people like me it has become a necessity as I am working in a company away from my relatives and family

It's neither a need nor a necessity. It's still something that we choose to want. People have lived for ages without it and to this day, there are folks who can do without it.
BUT I do have to give credit at how it has made our lives easier especially for those who work away from their families. It makes communication a breeze so we're always in touch with our loved ones.

Yes.. It has many advantages. Mobile has made our life very easier but then its radiations are very harmful specially for children but we dont recognise it and dont care for it which in turn can harm a lot

My husband is in the Air Force so he is away from me and our children a lot. A cell phone has become a necessity, just like the internet, that way we can stay in touch. Now, I don't understand why children who want a cell phone because everyone has one need one. (P.s: that was a horrible sentence.) When my kids start having many activities and we need to stay in touch they will be able to get a cell phone that calls my phone only. Kids don't need to stay in touch with each other every second of the day and wrack up phone bills. My younger sister is just going into 4th grade and she was telling me how excited she will be when she goes to 6th grade because she'll get a phone...I wanted to roll my eyes so much. What is she going to do with a cell phone that's actually useful. Plus how responsible are kids with expensive portable technology anyways?

Agreed Leslie.. That's a big concern and we all should be worried about it. Its not good to provide children in small age with expensive gadgets.

Nowadays when everyone is offered a cellphone, it is hard for people to live without one. For me, it is very inconvenient when I leave the house forgetting my phone. I always seems to need to call someone since I'm used to being able to make calls on the streets. I agree it's harmful to use the cellphone too much but it's hard to live without a cellphone

For me it is more of a necessity than a need, as I don't have a landline so I need a cell phone to keep in touch with my family and friends. I would be lost without it, and if my son couldn't get a hold of me, he would be frantic. A couple of days after I got my ne phone, my daughter in law stopped by to see if I was alright, as my son tried to call me and the phone would just ring and ring, on his end, but it never reag on my end. What had hapened was, I forgot to save the ring tome so when anhone tried to call, the phone wouldn't ring. I didn't know what had happened until my duaghter in law showed up, and I am glad that she did. I had her call my cell phone to makke sure it would rignt and it did, so I knew it would work then, and it has ever since. So, for me, cell phones are a big necessity, and I would be lost without it. I take it everywhere with me, even to church, but I turn it off there. Have a great day, and happy mylotting.
