Gauged ears?

Some people will gauge their piercings, usually ear lobe ones. It's where you stretch it out a lot so there is a big hole there. I don't think I would do it myself. Unlike regular piercings, you can't just take out the earring and have it go back to normal if it is gauged. I think it would be a painful process and could easily go wrong. So what do you think? Do you like the look? Have you done this, or would you?
