again, the age old question...if you see money laying on the street, do you pick it up? yesterday, i found 3 pennies (all different spots) and last week, i found a toonie (a $2- coin here in canada). i put it all into a jar so that my family can go out for ice cream. it sure does add up (it may take awhile, but why not?)

Hey cher! It may be an age old question, but it is still a
good one! And good for you for thinking wisely and picking
up the loose change and putting it to good use! I wish I
did pick up all the loose change that I see, but sometimes I
am just too lazy or it's too dirty! If I have alot of loose
change in my wallet I will empty some it in my "piggy bank"
(yes, I really do have a piggy bank)! And when the little
piggy gets full I will wrap the change and take it to the
bank! So, I do save my pennies and other loose change and
eventually use it for something!

Yes, I have to admit I do this on a regular basis. Just a habit I suppose. My husband also does this when we are out. My husband takes the dog to a park or high school to let him play and walk around. He found a $20 once and I believe a $5 too. I've always wanted to get a metal detector just to walk around a park and see what I could find. Just haven't taken the time to go look at or price them.

Seeing a coin on the ground,I'd probably pick it up,but I'd need to check first to make sure some comedian hadn't stuck it down with superglue (Crazy Glue?) as a prank!

You found a two dollar coin. Lucky you. I pick up pennies when I see them in the streets too. I usually just put them in the wallet to use as change when paying for stuff. Happy coin collecting

I always pick up money if I see it lying on the ground. You are very right, it really DOES add up!! That's a good idea to put it in a jar to save to take the family out for ice cream, like a free gift from strangers. I think I will tell my boys that we should do that too!

yes, I will always pick it up. If I had it in my hand, I would not throw it away, so why would I be too lazy to bend down and pick up a coin or two. I usually take it home and throw it in a big jar. It is surprising how it can mount up. I see kids going to school sometimes, dropping the odd coin, they know they've done it, but can't be bothered to pick it up again. Perhaps they are too rich to bother! But I doubt it!.. - Derek

I'd never pick up a few cents, maybe if it was several dollar but then again maybe not, i remember though one night, i lost my five dollar bill, and i was with some friends and one of my friends found it but he didn't know it was mine and he said to his mother that he found five dollars, and he kept it. I'm an honest person, and i wouldn't want to take anybody's money that doesn't belong to me, but one time i found a fifety and i kept it.

Yes I would certainly pick it up - I also have a jar and once its full I take it to the bank to deposit. I agree with the fact that the money is dirty, but when saying this I think most people tend to forget that the money handed to you from the cashier at the retail store can certainly also be dirty. Just imagine money goes through different hands everyday - and not all people are good a washing their hands. So the money found on the street can easily be just as dirty as the money we are handed from the cashier. I bet not many think about that.

I used to when I was a kid. But these days if I see a 1p or a 2p piece on the street I will not pick it up because in my mind it must be very dirty if it has been lying around on the streets. If the amount is more for example 50p or £1, then yes I would pick it up, because to me that would be worth it.

I sure would pick up money when I see it lying on the street. If I save all the money I pick up, I'm sure it would amount to something that is big enough for me to actually purchase something that I want, even if it's only a snack.

I suppose you earn less than $10,000 a year?
I would leave anything below £5 on the floor... once I found 1,000 American dollars lying around on the floor. I was only 7, so I picked it up and tried to buy myself a chocolate bar with 500 dollars because I thought £1 = $500 LMAO!!

ofcorse i will pick up..becoz its not a personal property that time and any one who gets to it before can be owned by him. so, its nothing bad in that...ya but try to give back to the owner and if do not get him then u might keep the money with u..say its a god's gift to you.
personally if i get such coins or notes on the ground, i pick them and give them to some beggar or needy person.

We use to pick up coins as kids while small then. It used to be fun then. If the coins was dirty we would use sand and water and wash it then and spend it.
The fact now as a mature person, we are not supposed to pick it but the fact remains that if you don't soeone else will.
So why don;t you pick it up and give it to a street begger even if you don't have the intention of using it.

I pick it up most the time. I figure if it's laying there if I don't someone else will. Sometimes I may leave it if there's kids around or sometimes even "accidently" drop change by the candy counter. I'm sure sometimes it goes to an adult but who knows, maybe they're needier than I.

I seem to have a knack for finding money on the ground. There was a time in High School where milk was 25 cents. When I didn't have any money on me, I'd tell my friends, "Hold on a sec." and walk around casually and find more than enough.
I tend to find a lot of dimes. I find quarters, loonies, and toonies sometimes too but mostly dimes. And obviously pennies. I pick up the pennies when I'm not feeling too lazy. Instead of a jar, I'd put all this loose change in a drawer, then when I wanted some change to buy a treat or something, I'd use it.
