Weight Loss Programs: Effective or not?

I've seen diet pill supplements in brochures and pharmacies (drugstores), I've seen weight-loss programmes on TV and I've also seen slimming centres mushrooming in the city where I live. As far as I'm concerned, these are easy ways to reduce weight but you'll end up losing not only your weight but your money as well. Some of them are genuine, some are not. Some appear to help you lose weight but there could be side effects later. I personally would reduce my weight the natural way - by watching my diet and doing regular exercise. What's your opinion on weight-loss supplements and programmes?

slimming programs and supplements, are by the and self explanation, it's a assistance and not something that work miracle. I believe for those who wanted to have a weight loss, it will be much better of determining by the self determination. If one does not have the determination to lose weight no matter how much one spend on the supplements or program, it will not work for a long period of time. I still think that having to lose weight is something that we need to first sacrifice good food..

Hello cwong77, I agree with that sacrificing good food part. If I need to lose weight, I need to be blind folded and have my nose blocked! Or else, when I see good food and smell nice food, gosh, all the diet plan will go to waste. But I believe in having everything in moderation. I can still have the food I crave, but I'll halve it. That way, I can still satisfy my cravings and still not put on too much calories! :)

Sacrificing good food would not help us lose weight. First and foremost, what is "good food"? If it means the food that we like which are not necessarily good for our health, then I agree with you. On the contrary, if "good food" means reducing intake of food that provides nourishments (vitamins, minerals), then it's something not worth sacrificing because in the end, it doesn't benefit our health. Exercising self-control and not craving for "extra" food is something which we should all attempt. Only then we could see some changes.

Hello kev, I was wondering if you are a person needing a weight loss programme? I am the type who gain weight easily. During my college days, I was very heavy due to the frequent supper meals with friends and the snacking during studying. But the moment I started working, I started to lose weight. I am not sure what made me lose weight, but I guess it was the change of lifestyle. I havent try any weight loss programmes but I dont really believe in them. I think if we want to lose weight, we need to go hit the gym. Or jog in the park. We need to sweat it out. There is definitely no easy way out...

I believe that what we see on "The Biggest Loser" is a little extreme; these people have been put through rigorous routines each day and have been supervised by professionals. Normal people like us cannot follow such routines; we could strain our muscles or even collapse!! it's best we do it slowly but consistently - take your time to lose weight; there's no rush unless you're competing in a competition. What's important is your lose some weight.

Hi kevchua, to my mind there is no doubt at all that dieting makes you fat, follow some ridiculous programme, finish it with a bit of weight loss, then go back to the same bad habits which made one fat in the first place. It's all about eating right in the first place and excersing, even if it's only walking, and then making this a way of life, not obsessing about every calorie. I love those magazine adverts where people send away for special diet foods, they must be aimed at such gullible people, how do they learn about good nutrition by drinking some magic diet drink for a month? The real message is out there for those that can be bothered to actually change their lifestyle rather than want everything as a quick fix - start eating properly, it sure tastes better than eating the rubbish which makes you fat in the first place. And yes I've never been on a diet.

Hey! It is possible to lose weight with putting yourself into it and making chances . It can be small changes at first like walking a few times a week and cutting out the bad foods. Best of luck to anyone trying to lose weight.

Hi Judy, hey it's great that you've lost some weight there. Congratulations! Yeah you've got to start from somewhere, and once you've started, you need to keep the momentum going. Healthy food equals healthy body and healthy mind. What's important is to do things in moderation.

I am sure some weight loss programs work , but there are some that are get rich fast scams. You know it takes work to get the weight off and it takes change. I know that weight watchers works because I lose a great deal of weight on it with mode effort , but then I got off of it and over the years I put some of it back on, but just this April I have tried it again , but put more into it and make better food choices and I also walk about 10 miles a week on a track and also will work out a few out. Just gotta find something that works for you . I know that some people have to take a product so they can speed up their matabolism and I think I am one of those and might add in slim quick , but with all that you have to be careful . Most diet pills will make you sick and only help you lose a little weight at first . Remeber that you kinda get what you put in

Don't use Ally, I heard it causes kidney failure. I really wish the FDA would rein in these weight loss things and make sure they really work, and not cause bodily harm.

I show many "easy", "lazy" methods to fit the body. We lost many time & money and proud due to fast change. Everything can do if we have money? I think we should understand the natural rulers and step by step change your body that's a full lifetime job.
