A Muslim mother of two, Kartika Sari Dewi, should be whipped for a peculiar crime: drinking a beer in public. On August 24, Kartika was due to become the first woman in Malaysia to be caned, after an Islamic court sentenced her to six lashes in July. But Islamic officials suddenly delayed the corporal punishment just hours before she was to endure the lashing. Should a Muslim mother of two, be caned for drinking a beer?

This is the MOST pathetic things i have come across. I really can't agree to this under any circumstances. It's true that The rules of Muslims are really strict & as if we are staying in 19th century, where women where almost equal to slaves. It is disappointing to understand that still there is no difference to it. These are basic human rights being violated in many occasions. Its upto an Individual as what to do & what not, unless it doesn't hurt others. I'm sure such torture towards Women will never stop until the mentality of Men,the so called leaders, change.

True, some times i feel that the frog in the well thinks that this is the world!!. However I feel that there are many, many means many among Muslims who drinks, ya may be not in public. If It's against the rule of the place you are staying Currently, then better do things in such a way that even the one staying in next room shouldn't know what you are doing!!

Hi benhilo, I'm not a muslim, but i think every religion have their own way and their own 'dos and don'ts'. If I admit myself believe in that particular religion, I will do my best to live according to their way, and if i committed something wrong according to that religion, I'll just face the consequences, as that is what I believe in. If caned is stated in their belief, i think there's nothing wrong for her being caned, as she is a Muslim.
Some of dos and don'ts of a 'particular religion' may sound 'too much' for 'other people' that not believe in it, that's why these 'other people' didn't claim that 'particular religion' as their belief.
