For those of you that have been chatting with me on various discussion, I needed to share some exciting news on this Thursday August 27,2009.
My Husband got a job. He had been laid off for about 8 months. He worked thru the local union hall as a equipment operator.
They called him yesterday and said they had a small job that would last a couple of weeks. I know that ain't very long, but hey it is a job. He can make a months worth of unemployment amount in that two week period.
I am just so excited!!! Come and share my excitement with me..

He is excited. I ask him if he was and he just said another job. I laughed at him because you could see the excitement in his face regardles what his words was. He seem more relaxed when he is at home now. I know this layoff has put a lot of stress on him as well. Thanks for your nice words. Have a good day.

That is great! I congratulate both you and your husband, it is a good thing that your husband got a new job because of this global crisis, it is hard to find a job.

Have you ever asked your husband looking for something else. Maybe something lower than what he did previously? I meant at least making some money for the money, or earning some minimal wages for while?
@rosepedal64 (4188)

Yes we have discussed that. The only probelm is that we have bills that went with his income before. He has to make x amount of hourly wages to make the bills and give us money all the other needed stuff. I appreciate your thoughts and concerns..

Yes he works within the local union hall. They will call their workers back as the jobs come open. He has been laid off since the first of the year. It was real good news for us that he did get call out to a job. We are hoping that it will last a while or that they have another for one if this one ends. I appreicate your comment.

That is vey true. The Union is not all bad...The area that I live in to get into the big companies you just about have to have some inside pull. That is why my hubby got into the union over 10 years ago. He spent 8 yrs in the army when he was younger. He has a lot of history behind him but the union has been his best choice so far. I wish you luck and hope things turn out good for you. Have a good day..

Thanks tdemex for your thoughts...I am very pleased. I know his BA at union had told him that work was starting to pick up some. I just didn't believe it because he hadn't been called out. With this job I hoping that it will lead to another job. I keep smiling. I wish you luck on your job hunting and maybe today will be your day for that big job to land in your lap. I will be thinking about you. keep me posted on how it is going with you.

I think he will be able to go on now. It was just a matter of time for the jobs to start picking back up. I know in the area we live in the job thingy is going so slow. When it does pick back up then there will be plenty of work. Im just glad he called when he did. I appreciate your happiness for us. Have a good day

I wish the best luck for your friend and hope that things work out for the best. From my experience you can't really give up and say that there is nothing out there. I know that work is very hard to find, but it is there if you keep looking. My hubby never gave up. He kept calling on a daily basis. He has paid off in the end.

YAY! Congrats to your hubby. That is fantastic! I myself have only been unemployed for a month but I'm already going crazy and am out of money. I had to quit my job because I moved for my husband's job, so I can't even collect unemployment.
So how did the two of you celebrate this awesome news?!

Congratulations to you and he as well! My fiance got a job a few Wednesday's ago. He had been without a job for 2 years and a little more. I, myself, have been out of a job for almost two years this October I believe 17th. I'm going to be looking for work after we're married.
Glad he's got a job again though it is short. Are you sure it won't interfere with his unemployment (benefits)?

That is wonderful news, thanks for sharing! I hope business will pick up again soon so that he will have more and more work opportunities in the very near future. I m so happy for you guys that he got THIS work now, it's a start! You know, the easiest time to find a job is when you HAVE one, for some reason employers don't like to hire the unemployed! It's sad by true. However, if you ARE working or have worked recently, you are much more likely to get hired someplace. Go figure.

Sad but true..If you have a current job then it is eaier to get a new job. I guess companies are looking at if you are already working then you really want to work. I know here in our town, if you really want a job you have to keep checking back in. The reason is that so many people are just putting in applications because some agency told them they had to. The employers don't really know who wants a real job. Checking back is a must.

Eight months is alot for us. We were almost to the put of drowning. Im glad that you didn't make it to the one year mark on no work. We are happy that he has called back out. I just need to keep fingers crossed that it will last for the time that told him. I think this will be a chain reaction to his upcoming work now.

Oh yes very good news... I hope this will start a change reaction with work. In the past he has called out on the smaller jobs that lead to the longer bigger jobs. Before he got laid off he worked for one company 18 months which is pretty long with one company. He has always had work up until this year.
